[X2Go-User] line editing not enabled, Connection Failed (Xiki)

2018-03-27 Thread Karl A. Woelfer
We have a user who is unable to launch X2go, receiving the following errors:

Conection Failed

~/Xiki/bin/.xsh line (...) bind : warning : line editing not enabled

Is this maybe a known conflict between key mappings ? I am not very familiar
with the Xiki shell.

Are there any workarounds people can offer?

Thanks for your collective expertise,

Hello -

Here is a link with some background, which describes two workarounds :

http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go.user/2368

You would add this to your sshd_config file on the client (Linux) machine, then
restart ssh

I hope this helps.

Objet : [X2Go-User] X2Go Client: Kex error : no match for method server host
key alog: server [ssh-rsa], client [ssh-ed25519]

Hey everyone,

Any advice on the problem below? I hit it consistently with X2Go Client, but
it does not happen with the Pyhoca client.

Error:

Kex error : no match for method server host key alog: server [ssh-rsa], client
[ssh-ed25519].

Client computer:

* Windows 8.1 connecting to Linux Mint 17.1 (Ubuntu 14.04.1) running the MATE
desktop.

* X2Go client software v4.0.5.2. The problem does not happen with the Pyhoca
software (I downloaded the latest version).

Server:

Linux Mint 17.1 (Ubuntu 14.04.1) running the MATE desktop.

X2Go Server:
 Server Core:
x2goserver (4.0.1.19)
x2goagent (3.5.0.31)

Server Extensions:
x2goserver-extensions (4.0.1.19)
x2goserver-xsession (4.0.1.19)

X2Go Server Add-ons:
x2gomatebindings (0.0.1.3)

X2Go Server Features:
X2GO_CLIPBOARD_MODES
X2GO_LIST_DESKTOPS
X2GO_MATEBINDINGS
X2GO_MOUNTDIRS
X2GO_MOUNT_UNCPATHS
X2GO_PUBLISHED_APPLICATIONS
X2GO_RUN_EXTENSIONS
X2GO_SERVERSIDE_DESKTOPCOMMANDS
X2GO_SET_KEYBOARD
X2GO_UMOUNTSESSION_ALL
X2GO_UMOUNTSESSION_ONLYPATH
X2GO_XSESSION

Additional Information:

Usually I use X2Go without ssh keys, so just type in my userid & password when
connecting to the Linux desktop. This has worked fine.

When the problem above started to happen, I tried generating RSA keys on my
Windows machine and transferred them to my Linux machine, but this didn't help.
I also tried with DSA and also ED22519 keys, but no-go on X2Go.

I installed Pyhoca and authenticate using my userid & password. I can then
connect to the suspended session that was originally created with the X2Go
client.

For now I am using the Pyhoca client, but would also like to get the X2Go
client working again.

Thanks!

[X2Go-User] Transport endpoint is not connected? RE: Shared Folders, from Windows to Debian8

2017-01-26 Thread KARL A. WOELFER

Thank you again Stefan for the more detailed instructions, I am ~closer.

I selected automount for one folder on my WIndows client, "Benchmarking"

>From X2go, on the Debian 8 server side I see :

lrwxrwxrwx1 kw* kw*   25 Jan 25 12:49 media -> /tmp/.x2go-kw*/media

kw*@chdd:~/media$ cd disk
kw*@chdd:~/media/disk$ ls -alrt

ls: cannot access
_mnt_home_kw*_.x2go_ssh_key.Ja4672__cygdrive_C_Users_KARLWO1_DOCUME1_BENCHM1:
Transport endpoint is not connected
total 8
d? ? ?? ??
_mnt_home_kw*_.x2go_ssh_key.Ja4672__cygdrive_C_Users_KARLWO1_DOCUME1_BENCHM1

(??? above are the Unix file attributes)
This directory entry then goes away.

kw*@chdd:~/media/disk$ ls -alrt /tmp/.x2go-kw*/media/disk
total 8
drwx-- 5 kw* kw* 4096 Jan 25 13:03 ..
drwx-- 2 kw* kw* 4096 Jan 25 13:04 .

Transport endpoint not connected doesn't sound good, but I don't know what to
do with this information.

I also don't know the significance of the
_mnt_home_kw*_.x2go_ssh_key.Ja4672__

which precedes the _cygdrive_ name that we are expecting.

Is there something more I should have installed/running (Cygwin for example) on
my Windows 7 laptop?

X2go client is version 4.0.5.0 (Qt 4.8.6)

Thanks for any and all help with this,

Well, if you don't check the automount box - nowhere until you mount them?
How you mount them manually depends on what checkboxes you checked under
Options/Settings/General.

1a) If you set X2GoClient to minimize into the system tray, then you
right-click that icon, select the session name, then "Share folder ...".

1b) If, instead, you have the X2GoClient window on your screen even with
an active connection, click on the small folder icon, that's the left of
the three icons "Folder, Pause, Power".

>From there, the steps are the same again for both variants.
2) Click the name of the share in the window that has opened now
3) Click the "share" button.

If you either performed these steps or had the automount box checked,
your mountpoint will be somewhere under ~/media/disk/, with a name
starting with _cygdrive_.

> My Windows laptop has a single-user authentication, whereas we use LDAP
> on Linux, is this a potential problem?

I do not believe so. The mount is performed by FUSE through a tunneled
SSH connection, with the Cygwin SSHD spawning on your client, so it's
your server connecting back to the client, using a temporary SSH key
pair, so there's no exchange of your individual password involved.

I'll try to come up with a HowTo with a few screenshots, but at present,
my only Windows machine that has a US-English GUI is busy spinning its
hourglass over the Windows Update window ... which is not surprising, as
this was the first time since Mid-2014 that I powered it up.

[X2Go-User] Shared Folders, from Windows to Debian8

2017-01-24 Thread KARL A. WOELFER
I have had success with Debian to Debian shared folders,

now we have users who would like to share Windows folders using X2go, to a
Debian 8 system.

X2go client running on a Windows laptop, connecting to Debian 8 server.

I am not at all sure how the file path mapping will work, or where to look on
the Debian server for this shared

C:\Users\... folder.

Where would I expect to see the Windows folder that I am sharing ?

Is there a special configuration to set up the Windows-to-Linux filename
translation?

I see two options/workarounds listed at
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go.user/2368
 - I'm assuming you went for the second option, is that correct?

If so, a copy of your /etc/ssh/sshd_config would greatly aid in
helping you resolve this.

Unable to reproduce. Works just fine here.

You did run apt-get update before running apt-get install x2goserver,
right?

If not, please do so, and try again.

If you did, or if the problem persists, please post the content of
your sources.list.

Your error messages might hint at missing Debian repositories (maybe
you enabled security.debian.org, but not ftp.debian.org? - your
sources.list will tell us more).
