If anything, then the latter, but largely neither afaict - there's no
change in this regard here at all as far as the guest could affect
behavior, due to the page getting inserted as p2m_mmio_direct, and
guest_remove_page() having

before any refcounting logic is reached. The removal of interaction
is because now the page doesn't get associated with a domain (and
hence doesn't become subject to refcounting) at all.

The risk of the change stems from going from using a per-domain
page to using a single, system-wide one, which indeed was the subject
of v1 discussion. In any event the consideration towards splitting
the change would cover either concern. Perhaps I should really do so
and submit as v3 ...

  x86/PV: harden guest memory accesses against speculative abuse

  and prior work in that area of x86 Linux, suppress speculation with
  guest specified pointer values by suitably masking the addresses to
  non-canonical space in case they fall into Xen's virtual address range.
  
  Introduce a new Kconfig control.
  
  Note that it is necessary in such code to avoid using "m" kind operands:
  If we didn't, there would be no guarantee that the register passed to
  guest_access_mask_ptr is also the (base) one used for the memory access.
  
  As a minor unrelated change in get_unsafe_asm() the unnecessary "itype"
  parameter gets dropped and the XOR on the fixup path gets changed to be
  a 32-bit one in all cases: This way we avoid pointless REX.W or operand
  size overrides, or writes to partial registers.

The reason this list is kind of surprising is because there are 3
different "flavours" of KVM on ppc: KVM HV ("pseries" only), KVM PR
(almost any combination, theoretically, but kind of buggy in
practice), and the Book E specific KVM (Book-E systems with HV
extensions only).

But basically, qemu explicitly managing what accelerators are
available for each machine seems the wrong way around to me.  The
approach we've generally taken is that qemu requests the specific
features it needs of KVM, and KVM tells us whether it can supply those
or not (which may involve selecting between one of the several
flavours).

That way we can extend KVM to cover more situations without needing
corresponding changes in qemu every time.

  x86/PV: harden guest memory accesses against speculative abuse

  and prior work in that area of x86 Linux, suppress speculation with
  guest specified pointer values by suitably masking the addresses to
  non-canonical space in case they fall into Xen's virtual address range.
  
  Introduce a new Kconfig control.
  
  Note that it is necessary in such code to avoid using "m" kind operands:
  If we didn't, there would be no guarantee that the register passed to
  guest_access_mask_ptr is also the (base) one used for the memory access.
  
  As a minor unrelated change in get_unsafe_asm() the unnecessary "itype"
  parameter gets dropped and the XOR on the fixup path gets changed to be
  a 32-bit one in all cases: This way we avoid pointless REX.W or operand
  size overrides, or writes to partial registers.

[PATCH] virtio-gpu: Respect graphics update interval for EDID

This change introduces an additional member, refresh_rate to
qemu_edid_info in include/hw/display/edid.h.

This change also isolates the graphics update interval from the
display update interval. The guest will update the frame buffer
in the graphics update interval, but displays can be updated in a
dynamic interval, for example to save update costs aggresively
(vnc) or to respond to user-generated events (sdl).
It stabilizes the graphics update interval and prevents the guest
from being confused.
