I don't know what versions of XFree86 RedHat ships. You could just upgrade XFree86. Upgrading the whole distribution or buying new hardware seems a drastic alternative to just upgrading XFree86. If NVIDIA's binary drivers support that Debian release then you can probably run it with NVIDIA's binary drivers. The "nv" driver that comes with XFree86 didn't support that chip until XFree86 4.3.0 (and it probably has some problems restoring the console, so 4.4.0 probably works better). I don't know what version of XFree86 that Debian release contains, but Debian historically ships with relatively old XFree86 versions. Mark.
