Re: [XFree86] How to test the ATI Radeon 9200 driver

2003-09-07 Thread Alberto Bellu
Why 3.4.5 ? For linux I've found only
The 3.2.5.

The installation gave good results,
but no way to see the X server running on
Mandrake 9.1 and 9.2 RC1.

The X server starts, I hear the Kde starting sounds,
but nothing to do. I don't see nothing.

I have to install something more?
I'm trying on my Asus L5C laptop
and the Video Card is Radeon 9000 mobility.

Can somebody give me is XF86Config ?
Possibly declaring the XFree version,
the distro and the video card used.

I think that now is a setting problem.

TIA.

Alberto

Thanks Bill, I'll bookmark them for later. As it is, the new ATI 3.4.5
driver is working great! The Radeon 9200 speeds along very nicely in

-->both 2D and 3D. Thought I might have to swap it out for a 9000 when
I
first began installing, but with the drivers ATI supplied and some help
from a knowledgable Linux user, it all came together nicely.

Thanks again,
Patrick

RE: [XFree86] Radeon 9200

2003-09-05 Thread Alberto Bellu
Radeon DRIVERS are available from yesterday
at ATI web site:

http://www.atitech.ca/support/drivers/linux/radeon-linux.html?type=linux&prodType=graphic&prod=productsLINUXdriver&submit.x=15&submit.y=5

I hope that they can works better than
the one that XFree 4.3 already provide
(in my Asus L5C they don't work,
as I've posted)

Bye

-->Hi All who reside here,

I have just purchased a Radeon 9200 grahpics card and find that the
XFree86 4.3 I have installed does not in fact have that card listed in
the card database. I understand from some research I have done on the
XFree web si
-->es though that it is in fact supported now! Yippee!

It is the RV280 engine, but will not configure via sax2 in my SuSE 8.2
setup. Just kicks out when it can't find the card. I haven't seen any
updates recently for SuSE binaries and could probab
-->y update things from
XFree86 latest stable release, if I knew how! :o)

In looking over all that, it didn't quite make sense to me in the way I
am familar with installing, building source files. So here come the
questions.

Anyone running this
-->card in SuSE or others with 4.3 presently? Is 3D
supported from XFree or do you need to use the ATI drivers for that?

Are there new binaries for SuSE somewhere? If not, how do you compile
and install the newer stuff to use that card?

Thanks f
-->r your help
Patrick
