[XFree86] Cant get Matrox/MGA Ultima/Impressio to work
Hi, I got a MGA Ultima/Impressio card that works fine under Win2000 but doesn't want to work in my Linux system. Here is the lspci Output: :00:0b.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA Ultima/Impression (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Flags: stepping, medium devsel, IRQ 11 Memory at cfff8000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=16K] Expansion ROM at cffe [disabled] [size=32K] I attached my log and XFConfig-4 File. It doesn't make any difference if I load "vesa" or "mga" for the driver. Maybe someone is able to help me. Re: [XFree86] Problem with Dual Monitoring
I can't get any AGP Card to run as a primary, my bios has the Option but it doesn't do anything. I have 2 S3 Cards here and none of them work as Multiscreen, I can't even set the both card in a Multiscreen System. Tomorrow I will get a Voodoo 3 2000 (PCI) Card to try. Hopefully it will work. Thanks Ben From: Mark Vojkovich <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [XFree86] Problem with Dual Monitoring Date: Wed, 13 Oct 2004 10:50:33 -0700 (PDT) When you ran the "nv" driver with another card in the system, was the NVIDIA card the primary card (ie. the one the console comes up on)? If not, could you try it as the primary? There is likely an option in the motherboard bios for that. I've not heard any problems pertaining to running the "nv" driver when other cards are in the system. On the contrary, I've always heard that it works fine, and I have my own dual card system working fine. What's more common is the S3 driver not working in multicard situations - a frequently reported problem. Can you send me the logfile from the "nv" driver? The "nv" driver should work without problems as the primary card regardless of how many other video cards are in the system. The same is true as a secondary card as long as a CRT is used. The "nv" driver doesn't support the DVI interface on secondary cards (though sometimes it works anyway - it depends on the video bios). Mark. RE: [XFree86] startx problems
Sorry the files name is "XF86Config-4" you will probably find it at /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. If it's not there use this command to find it: find /etc/ -name "XF86Config-4" Ben From: Olasimbo Adeyemi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [XFree86] startx problems Date: Wed, 13 Oct 2004 06:09:05 -0700 (PDT) I dont have the XFConfig-4 file, i ran a find on my system. Re: [XFree86] Problem with Dual Monitoring
Oh I tryed with the "nv" drivers but if I use them with another graphiccard in the PC the System craches, real System freeze. If I only have my nvidia Card in the PC and use the "nv" Driver the System runs fine. The Log file doesn't say anything useful. [XFree86] Problem with Multiscreen Setup
Hi, I'm running a up to date Debian sarge on a Athlon XP Power PC, so XFree86 has the Version 4.3.0. Here comes my Problem: I want to have a Multiscreeb System but can't get it to work. I have a Geforce 2 MX and a s3 Graphic card that I want to use and 2 * 21" Screens. Here is a copy of the Config I use to run the nvidia card only: http://home.t-online.de/home/520050001162/debian/to_debain_maintainer/XF86Config-4_nvidia_working And here is the Config for the s3 Card: http://home.t-online.de/home/520050001162/debian/to_debain_maintainer/XF86Config-4_s3_working Here is my combined Config for the Dual Monitoring: http://home.t-online.de/home/520050001162/debian/to_debain_maintainer/XF86Config-4_dual And here is the log-File: http://home.t-online.de/home/520050001162/debian/to_debain_maintainer/XFree86.0.log Maybe you will find the time and help me with my Problem, it's driving me insane. Under Win 2000 everything runs fine (after I reinstalled Win, as usual). Could you please help me to understand what I did wrong and how to fix it?
