Re: [XFree86] Specs on monitor needed

2004-04-12 Thread Jens Thomas Kaiser
Seems right. The Windows .inf -file says

[Hyundai-HL-5870C.AddReg]
HKR,MODES\1024,768,Mode1,,30.0-70.0,50.0-150.0,+,+
HKR,,ICMProfile,0,HL5870C.icm

Not sure of the validity though.

I am looking for the specs (Horiz and Vert rates) on a monitor.

The monitor is a NCR HT5870C. I have google'd for a few days and cannot find the
specs. I believe the monitor is the same as a Hyundai HT5870C as the rear panel
says it was made in Korea. It could also have an alias of Optiview 15LX.

When I google for the Optiview, all hits are in foreign languages.

If anyone has these specs I would greatly appreciate them passing them on or
posting a web site were I can retrieve them.

  Thank You

Re: [XFree86] 64bit XFree86 for ppc64 Linux?

 Hello All,

I have a ppc64 sytem with Debian woody. I have updated my kerenl with 2.6.3. Debian

 like to
  ^
if that's true there's no way. you need your compiler to know about 64
bit, and more important your kernel must be 64 bit. anyways, i have no
idea about apples, but recently installed an amd64 with suse64bit. 32
bit applications seem to be only 10% slower than 64bit. i think the
advantage of 64 bit is for adress-space and precision in iterative
calculations. i doubt that the x-server really will benefit from it.
imho, the only reason to have a 64 bit server is if you really have a 64
bit kernel /and/ want to youse dri (or other kernel-located drivers)

 build 64 bit XFree86 from the latest source (4.4). I have a 64 bit toolchain. But I
 have
only 32 bit xlibs and other dependent libraries.

xlibs should be compiled as part of the x-distribution. you problme
seems to be mor that your whole system is not 64 bit aware. could well
be a problem with apple, as their ppc64 OS-X is actually only a 32bit
OS.

Is there any way to build 64 bit XFree86 for my system. Is there any patch for this?

 Thanks in advace.

 Regards,
 Mahesh

Re: [XFree86] problem in displaying 8-bit fonts

2003-07-07 Thread Jens Thomas Kaiser
hi,

i don't know much about this stuff, but as you see squares and not just
strange letters, i think your app actually uses the font. i had the same
problem with some ttf fonts. there was no pattern which font worked and wich
didn't. as this did not happen to the root user, i checked permissions, but
they were right. it turned out, that the problem was a library of an
application that was not in roots path. it was libqt-mt.so.3. when i replaced
the calls to programs that use this library with a 'wraper-script' that sets
the path, executes the program that needs this specific version and resets the
path upon leaving everything was fine.

hope that helps

Thanks for all the help and the replies. It still does not work for me

I did not use ttmkfdir because I could not compile it (gave some linker
 errors). I
did not see a binary for my configuration anywhere .. Does someone know
where I can get binaries ?

I had used mkfontscale. I made sure the font was available by running
 fc-list
but I see some problems with mkfontscale:

 1) for the subak-1 font face, it adds lines in which the encoding is
 iso10646-1
but I know that must be incorrect because it is an 8-bit font. And the
 font
probably does not get matched ( because I see english alphabet
 characters)

 2) For MARmith0 and xdvng the font is shown as iso8859-1 but gets
rendered like little square blocks (Not just in Konqueror but also the
 KDE -settings-control center-fonts)

 3) xfontscale prints an error like :
Error: widget dash has zero width and/or height

Can you tell me if I am missing something ?

 Thanks and regards

try including

BusID PCI:0:10:0

Re: [XFree86] SGI Dial box support

2003-06-30 Thread Jens Thomas Kaiser
hi,

there are some hacks around, but afaik it is not a general support. the
drivers have to be tailored to the prog. using the dials. both links concern
crystallographic programs:

ftp://stef.ijs.si/dist/dialbox.tar.gz

Are the SGI dial boxes supported under XFree86? I have
