[XFree86] RedHat 9 x Postgres 8 x PgAdmin III

2005-04-14 Thread Luis Claudio Albuquerque
I read in FAQ that pgadmin 1.1 doesn't work with Postgres 8, only 1.2
version.
I have RedHat 9 ... In your donwload site, I can get only 1.2 version of
pgadmin for Fedora (pgadmin3-1.2.0-cvs20040917).
I tried to install this on my RedHat and I got this 2 error messages:

libXinerama.so.1 is needed by pgadmin3-1.2.0-cvs20040917
libXxf86vm.so.1 is needed by pgadmin3-1.2.0-cvs20040917
How can I install this libs ? Can you send the link ?
Thanks,
Luis Albuquerque

Hi all,
I have a Compaq Evo N1020v. I have a problem when trying to connect an

[XFree86] XFree86 under Linux Mandrake - recovering from Fatal server error

2004-05-14 Thread Luis Torres
Hello,

I have a machine with Linux, which was working properly (for years), but after a power
cut while loading the X-server,
the XFree server got broken. There seems to be some font files that got corrupted
(while rebooting everything else
reports OK). My problem is:

How to cirurgically recover the XFree installation, so startx will again bring the
magic of X-windows. I include the log
and config files. Please note that I have not done the Linux installation and got some
CDs, which I am unsure if they
correspond to what is installed.

XFee86 -version, reports:

XFree v4.03 / X Windows System
Release Date: 16 March 2001
OS: Linux 2.4.1-20mdksmp i686 [ELF]

I am not familiar with the Mandrake distribution. Apparently from what I see in the
backup(?) CDs it is version 8.0.
Ideally if I could grab the offending files from an XFree v4.03 distribution and
replace them manually would be ideal.
Any pointers on where to get what and how to do it?. At a later stage I will upgrade
to Mandrake 10.0 and that will
upgrade the XFree version a the same time. But for the moment I would like to bring
back the X-windows and get
some work done.

Please reply by e-mail as I don't subscribe to the list.

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Luis Torres

PS - I read now the config file about fonts and this seems to go back to
Mandrake-Linux. So I am a bit lost. Maybe
I should post it in their mailing list.

[XFree86] "Dual Cursors" in XFree86

2004-05-10 Thread Luis Rivas Vañó
Hi all!!! I have a question: is possible to have two cursors attached to
two pointers devices in XFree86? I mean, not two devices and one cursor,
but two devices, each one with its own cursor. If it's not possible at
this time, is there any plans to develop this feature in futures releases?
Thanks!

[XFree86] trident module

2004-04-13 Thread Luis Ramirez Gonzalez
Hello Alan!,
I'm not sure but, at least for me, is impossible to fix higher resolution than 1024x768
with the trident module. May be I am wrong and you know how to do it. I've a
Cyberblade XP
in a Toshiba laptop(max resolution 1024x768) but when I try to use a external VGA
monitor
(CRT) I can not work with 1280x1024 (it could be enough for me). Anothe story could be
work with twin monitor, in Windows XP, that's work but at least for now in linux is not
possible, is it?
If you know some solution I could be very greatfull, I need it for my work.
Thank you for yout time. Your work is great!!

[XFree86] problems with the monitor

2003-12-07 Thread jose luis

iI had some problems installing Red Hat Linux 8
with the monitor :the video hrdware was recognised  as a s3 trio
generic  but the monitor didn't appeared in the list (it is a Philips
7CM5279)  ,The installation was good until i had to test the resolution of
the screen in which it  stayed like blocked   with some green
bars in the upper zone and returned to its original resolution so i
couldn't  probe it ,(but the graphic mode of the installation was gooad
).Then when i began to run Linux the x-server didin't work and a message of
error appeared...   and so  all the times .
Thanks very much

First if you try installing this program:

http://www.scitechsoft.com/products/ent/snap_linux.html

it might help you out. It help me out greatly.

Second, most people around here wont just give you the
answer to this kind of, seemingly, basic question (I
know - when your the one who cant figure it out it
doesn't seem so basic) but will instead perhaps send
you in the direction of where to look for help. So in
that spirit try these:

http://www.xfree86.org/

http://www.xfree.org/current/SiS3.html#3

http://groups.google.com/

Also, there are two working modeline generators on the
web that I know of. Unfortunatley I am not at my
computer right know or I would include those address
here. I believe that one of them is at the Xfree
site, however.
so try that.
