RE: [XFree86] [XFree86 on Solaris/X86] (EE) GLINT(1): Cannot read V_BIOS(3)

2004-12-06 Thread Michael Hamilton
I also noticed that you are loading the module LoadModule: "fbdev". Therefore
you should (also) manually set your BusID in the Device section of your X
config file. Do you have a section Option "UseFBDev" in your config? I am not
sure what will happen in your specific case if you run x without FBDev, but you
could also give that a try. If you don't have that option specified in your x
config It will default as off.

RE: [XFree86] [XFree86 on Solaris/X86] (EE) GLINT(1): Cannot read V_BIOS(3)

2004-12-06 Thread Michael Hamilton
Try finding all the things in your xlog file that come up as "(--) probed" and
set them up manually in your X config.
I read of a few cases like yours in which the auto detected was not picking up
the video ram and chipset properly.
Does all this look right:
(--) PCI: (0:11:0) 3DLabs GLINT R3 rev 1, Mem @ 0xdffe/17, 0xd800/26,
0xd400/26, BIOS @ 0xdffd/16
(--) PCI:*(1:0:0) Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 86C326 5598/6326 rev 11, Mem
@ 0xcf00/23, 0xdfaf/16, I/O @ 0xac00/7, BIOS @ 0xdfae/16
(--) Chipset SIS6326/AGP/DVD found
(--) Chipset pm3 found

Let me know if it's helpful setting your VideoRam (as in
http://www.xfree86.org/4.4.0/glint.4.html) and your chipset manually.

There is a possible fix for this in our CVS. If that doesn't work, it might
be that the driver for /dev/xsvc doesn't allow certain mappings, in which
case you would have to switch to the XFree86-provided aperture driver.
