RE: [XFree86] problem with startx in linux 7.2 as virtualPC running in windows2000

2004-06-16 Thread Cynthia Grossen
Your card was probed as an S3 and you used the nv driver. The results in the error No
Devices Detected which in your case could be more accurately restated Wrong Driver
Used for Device Detected

Try using the S3 driver instead. You may need to upgrade if that doesn't work. XFree86
is up to version 4.4 now and you are only using 4.1

 Hi,

  Hi,
I have installed latest version of xFree86 and
 still
getting the same problem. Please have a look at
 the
attached log file and suggest me what I should do
  next.
Well, I think I have seen something on the list
about this but I can't say
anything that I am truly sure about, sorry.
Send your mail with the new log and the
 /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to the mailing
 list.

Something that is not in correlation with your
problem (or so I guess) is the
version of your kernel: you should consider to
 upgrade it.

You have specified the wrong driver. You are not using Intel
internal graphics but ATI graphics. In you XF86Config file, replace
Driver i810 with Driver ati

I believe you have selected the wrong driver. You appear
to have an ATI card in your system, yet XFree86 appears to be
configured for Intel integrated graphics.
