1. Nepali language is having any slot in Unicode table ? 

2. Your getting box, due non availability of the font. So check
whether your font is available in the font list ? if not, try to
update ur font database and then try.

3. For testing, try to open already existing Unicode Nepali contents
in Gedit.

4. Also **check** for Nepali support in Pango.

[XFree86] Unicode Support

hi all:

I have comipled Xfree86 latest stable with Gnome 2.2.1 .
It is running fine.super   but in my editors like gedit unicode is not
functioning. i have did all localedef, key mapping etc for my nepali
language.

AM i missing somehitng at the compile time of Xfree86 or Glibc?

I have followed this link to complile my Xfree86.

Hi Prahan,

Nepali language is something similar to Hindi(India) ? I mean,
combination of vowel, constant etc... . Bcoz in Gnome, Pango is used
to render the Indian Languages. So kindly the check in pango for the
Nepali language support. I hope, it is not related to X.

1. yes nepali is under devnagari time slot. so it is there  i guess

2. i have installed fonts and did fc-cache.

3. i cannot type in g edit... it comes all the boxes insted of characters


4. how do i check in pango.. do i have to re compile pango with support
for devnagari?
