[XFree86] X Crashing.

2003-10-23 Thread gareth
Hi. Recently, X has been crashing on my machine whenever I've left it
left alone for more than a few hours. Until a week or so ago, this would
happen maybe once a week, but now it's doing it every time. I've asked
various friends, all of whom are far wiser than me, but they have no idea.

I've included below bits of information it seems you would like. But if I
have missed things, please let me know what else you want.

Thanks,

Gareth

[XFree86] X crashing and not giving errors

2003-03-19 Thread there4u82
I'm running slackware 8.1 on a box that has a geforce2 400mx (Cardexpert
32 mb vram) card and a compaq 171fs (17 inch) mointor on it. I've checked
my logs, and I don't get any warnings or errors. X tries to start, but
just gives me a black screen before it crashes out. I've had it working
before without downloading nvidia's drivers for it. Any help here?
Thanks!

[XFree86] X crashing in Red Hat Linux

2003-08-08 Thread IAM

Hi

I'm having problem with X crashing on Red Hat 9
Linux during Xlock. This happens persistently on two new machines which are
hardware twins, with Intel 845 onboard video. The problem occured
also when I transferred to one of these machines the whole /etc/X11
structure from an older system with Linux Red Hat 8.0. Playing with color depth
or resolution did not help either. My XFree86 version is the most recent
one.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.
Attached is a log file following one of the
crashes.

Thank you.

This is more than likely to be this bug:

Xlock meaning the 3D screen savers? If so, perhaps not loading
the glx module (which, of course, disables 3D rendering) would
prevent the crash?

Mark.

Re: [XFree86] X crashing and restarting when using mozilla Firebird

2003-09-16 Thread Mark Vojkovich
Is it easily reproducible? Try replacing Load "freetype" with
Load "xtt" in the XF86Config file. Usually when a web browser
segfaults the server it's because freetype choked on a font.
