When running under VMWare, you need to use the vmware driver, not the driver

  In the Section Device, change Driver nv to Driver vmware.

   If you were working with Mozilla or something that
would have alot of fonts it may be a known bug in the 
freetype font renderer.  Replace freetype in the
XF86Config file with xtt so that it uses a different
TrueType font renderer.

What were you doing at the time of the crash?  Did it happen in response to 
something you did, or did it appear to happen at a random time without 
provocation?  Is it possible to reproduce the crash?

   The RandR extension breaks rotate support so you have to
disable RandR.  Put:

   Option RandR 0

ServerFlags section of the XF86Config file.
