This looks really wrong. How many messages/day is it handling? Did you
build XMail with gcc 2.96 (quite buggy) or did you use an .rpm?

The spool is going to grow depending on the size of the message and the
size of the mailing list. How long the spool will dissolve depends on the
resend timing policy and from the networks links to the remote
destinations. You should not have problems with that number of subscribers
though. Just a little bit of disk activity after a send.

[xmail] Re: time zone settings??

2003-12-15 Thread Rob Arends
JB, If you are in Melbourne, your TZ should be +10:00 not +08:00.

Now because of Daylight time, you will effectively be +11:00

I currently get on telnet:
220 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [XMail 1.17 (Win32/Ix86) ESMTP Server]
service ready; Tue, 16 Dec 2003 13:33:01 +1100

This is correct current date/time.

There should be nothing you need to do in xmail for timezone, just set the
OS correctly and you're away.

Rob :-)

I have had 500,000+ messages go in and out of XMail in a week with no
problems. It also goes through virus filtering and spam assassin. This
is all on a windows 2003 server. For web interface I use WAI.NET. Great
little bit of software to do most admin and general email stuff through.

The linux version is extremely stable. I've never had a crash and I
haven't heard any discussion on this list regarding crashes or major

A good start would be to begin browsing the many links from xmail's
homepage (http://www.xmailserver.org)

There are many setup utilities, FAQ's, and webmail solutions to chose from.

It's simply a matter of reading about the different options and picking
out what you want to use.

All the documentation is there, it's just a matter of reading it.

[xmail] Mailing lists.

2003-12-15 Thread Oscar Sosa
Hello guys.
I am on the verge of implementing 4 lists of mail like of 1500 members
each one, and I want to know if somebody can orient me about how much
load can put this to the server. That is to say, I would like to know
the way of how XMail manages the mail lists internally, if it gives some
special treatment them to be able to balance the load or something thus.
When an email is sent to the lists spool is going to grow enormously,
right?. Also to these lists only the administrator will be able to send
messages, is to say that they will not be like a forum, this was solved
using ClosedMl set to one in user.tab and having only one member with RW
permissions.

Thanks for its comments.

Oscar.

Sorry, I'm an idiot. Let me explain that a little better with the right
information... :)

The problem is not *quite* that bad (I had the date wrong on the server -
one day out), but is still a big problem.

I get this time from the server when I telnet to port 25 now:

220 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [XMail 1.17 (Win32/Ix86) ESMTP Server]
servi
ce ready; Tue, 16 Dec 2003 07:23:40 -0800

When the local time here right now is Tue, 16 Dec 2003 08:23 (+0800)

--So that looks pretty close, although the timezone settings are way off.
However, when I send an email to myself, the rec'd date/timestamp is Wed,
17/12/2003 2:23am.

Timezone settings on the server are the same as on my workstation - GMT
+0800.

Thanks guys.

Cheers,
John :)

A spool file is corrupted. This can be a filter screw up of some direct

[xmail] ANNOUNCE: XQM Agent 1.38/Win32

2003-12-15 Thread Harald Schneider
XQM Agent 1.38 for Windows can be downloaded here:
http://xmail.marketmix.com

Changes:
- Fixed Win32 service framework and rpcserver for Python 2.3
- Built with latest Python 2.3.3-RC1
- Fixed a bug which caused the Agent to abort querying large queues,
returning an empty list. Other platforms were not affected by this.
