[xmail] FreeBSD 5.1 / av_filter / ClamAV = ELF binary type "0" not known error

2004-01-21 Thread admin
Has anyone seen this error in combination? Googling for the error, it seems
to be a Linux compatability error.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,

By source code, do you mean ASM or VC? I see assembly code in the debugger.

How can I save a back trace so I can send it to you?

Did you get the debug version of XMail? You should see source code. Also

The JIT loaded when XMail crashed. I saved the workspace to a file. Is
there any other information I need to save to a file and email to you? All
I see is the assembly code where it apparently crashed.

Ok. Now do I just need to sit back and wait for the next time XMail
crashes? When it does crash, what information do you want me to gather with

If someone using filters and/or external commands execution could give the

I have not tried deleting mailroot/tabindex/*. Is that something that would

I have given it a try tonight but it is not working correctly here. I
compiled it, shutted down 1.17, overwritten the bins with 1.18

I tried to sent myself an email just text and this is what I saw in the
debug output :

SMTP client connection from [192.168.0.4] SMAIL local SMTP =
"lindeman.nl" From = <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To = <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
SMTP client exit [192.168.0.4]
SMAIL local SMTP = "lindeman.nl" From = <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To =
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I waited for a while but I could not pop for the message. I then tried
to stop XMail but it wouldn't stop I had to kill the task.

After I putted back the 1.17 bins I received my testmessage immediatly

I have two filters installed, the spamfilter which calls spamassassin
and my own AV filter. If I need to test some more let me know.

1st idea:
Do you run any Norton Antivirus or firewall on this machine?
If so, disable it for testing. I had several cases, where these =
applications had some bad side effects on other apps and services

2nd:
- Stop XMail
- del MialRoot/tabindex/*
- Start XMail

The ideal thing is that you run XMail inside the debugger (or you have
Just In Time Debugging enabled). When you get the fault from the debugger
you should dump more info as possible, like back trace, parameters, etc...

Sure, but I had not even thought to try that. I will go rebuild the debug
version of XMail using VC++ 5.0 and then upload that exe to the server that
has been having those stability problems. What should I look for once I
have the debug version running on that box?

Are you able to rebuild the debug version of XMail and run it?

[xmail] XMail crashes on Windows 2003

2004-01-21 Thread Shiloh Jennings
XMail 1.17 has been very stable until today. It has starting crashing
several times per hour. Sometimes as often as once every few minutes.

This is the error that gets recorded to the Event Log on Windows 2003:
Faulting application XMail.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module XMail.exe,
version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00037fcb.

What does that mean? How can I avoid that problem?

[xmail] xmail + amavisd + MAIA

2004-01-21 Thread byte
I am using amavisd and MAIA in conjunction with my xmail system today.=20
One problem I have is the need to have a front end system that handles
alias to account consolidation then forwarding the emails to another MTA
(amavisd running on a different port# and potentially server) then
non-quarantined emails are forwarded to the backend mta. Ideally the
front end and back end MTA's would be xmail.. Today I use sendmail on
the front and end up with invalid destination addresses making it into
the spam/av system..

any ideas?

[xmail] Re: Set up problem

2004-01-21 Thread Bill Healy
To make sure you are authenticating everyone empty the smtprelay.tab
file. Now you will have to authenticate in order to send mail to
non-local domains.

In your e-mail client program (Outlook Express) the account name has to
be the complete e-mail address. Also don't turn on the option to use
Secure Password Authentication, just turn on the option to use
Authentication on sending messages.

Yes. Domain resolving is done after the cmdalias check.
