[xmail] Invalid Server Address

2004-02-24 Thread Nick Marino
Would there be a situation when xmail could not resolve an address even
though DNS is working find and can resolve the address at anytime?

I keep getting this failed delivery attempt for this user at this domain
ewol.com.

When I do a dig or nslookup from the same server it resolves perfectly
everytime, but email shows invalid server address as the error. But that is
not the case from what I can tell from the returned message from xmail. Here
is a small snip of the return.

ErrCode   = -40
ErrString = Invalid server address
ErrInfo   = ewol.com
SMAIL SMTP-Send FF = "ewol.com " SMTP = "ifixcomputers.net" From =
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" To = "[EMAIL PROTECTED] " Failed !
SMTP-Error = "417 Temporary delivery error"
SMTP-Server = "ewol.com "

[xmail] Xmail stop after sending mai with attachment to multiple recipients

2004-02-24 Thread Gideon So
 Hello,
I have a problem like this:

Xmail works extremely fine most of the time. It's great. Only when I
send an e-mail with attachment to multiple recipients, it stops. I read the
debug message and seems that it stops after the Av-filter from Peter
Lindemaninvolved. The debug message is something like this:

   rm: cannot remove file
/var/MailRoot/spool/x/x/mess/xxx.xxx.faith.report file or directory not
found.

After restart Xmail, the av-filter scan the remain mail again and then
everything is fine. Any clues for me??

[xmail] Re: Problems sending mail to hotmail; other domain

2004-02-24 Thread Adrian Hicks
I've got another one which may or may not be related.

I currently have one domain that returns temporary delivery errors &
messages never get to the recipient. If I change outgoing SMTP server to
test, using our ISP's server, the messages go through fine. As with yours
Javi the logs say all is fine, though I think in the case of outgoing
messages the SMTP log will only tell you that XMail received the message
from your e-mail program.

I've put XMail in debug mode, though the documentation doesn't say where to
look for debug output & the logs looked the same to me, so haven't got any
useful information.

Two questions: Where does one look for debug information, and is XMail able
to log connections to other SMTP servers when sending mail out?

[xmail] Re: Re-Post email to xmail

2004-02-24 Thread lascjr
After some tests my problem is continue.

After inserted the informations at header of message i don't repost mail
without lost the original informations of the first entry, this data is
changed by the last informations of repost at spool/local.

This is a new routine for anti-spam check, the message is only delivered to
destination if the sender exists and not a robot.

I think:

1-in the incoming filter check the existence of specific codes at header
(created at pass 4).

- if found then return 0 to normal trip, end.

- if not fount then:

2-Copy the file of spool (@@FILE) (for example:
spool\0\0\mess\121121212312.555.host) into folder called "waiting"
3-Send a one new e-mail to sender with a url web site and a code to
confirm the delivery to destination
4-stop delivery of message, returning 4 to xmail.

 - if the sender not confirm the delivery in xx days, the email is
deleted.

 - if the sender confirm the delivery then:

4-Insert a specifics codes into header of message in folder
"waiting"
5-delivery this message to xmail return at same point of
execution of pass 1

The problem is: what's return to same exact point of filter incoming check
(pass 1) without change any data of original email (host, ips, ...), with a
only a my specifics codes inserted ?

It's possible?

very thanks

[xmail] Re-Post email to xmail

2004-02-24 Thread lascjr
Hi,

I have created a filter in the incoming mails, my filter analyzes the header
of message and reject if this not contains the specific codes.

If the email has rejected, the filter copy the file passed by @@FILE (for
example: spool\16\5\132132323232.111.hostname) into another folder (for
example: waiting) and sent one email to the sender access a url of web site
and insert a specific code to confirm the delivery to mailbox.

After the sender has accessed the web site url and inserted the correct
code, the web site has modify the header of message into folder "waiting"
inserting the specific codes.

My problem is: What's repost this email to xmail?

thanks...

Maybe you did not set the DNS-Smarthost in server.tab to the DNS-Servers
used by the System resolver. In this case XMail looks up DNS-entry from
root-Zone to the specific Domain. Set the Smarthost and try again.

That's the problem: i'm not receiving any kind of message or error, the log
file "smtp2004" says "RECV=OK", no frozen msgs,no errors...
I don't know what to do...

[xmail] excessive bounce backs

2004-02-24 Thread Alex Young
Hi,
last week our email server started to get more and more bounce
backs. I have received over 400 Xmail bounce back messages in the last 2
hours. They are also sitting in the spool until I remove them manually with
XQM. I have now setup xscanner to intercept them all.

Can you guys offer any suggestions why the server is generating so many
error emails?

Thanks,
Alex

[xmail] Re: Problems sending mail to hotmail

2004-02-24 Thread Tracy
What error are you getting back when you try to send mail to Hotmail? The
bounce message (or slog file, if the messages are frozen on your server)
will tell you what (if any) error the remote server gave.

[xmail] Problems sending mail to hotmail

2004-02-24 Thread Javi
Hello everybody from Spain,i'm new here,i hope we can help each other to
solve any kind of problems :)

I'm going to tell mine(maybe it was discussed before): i cannot send any
mails to hotmail addresses. I thought it was a configuration problem, but
after many trying changing it i didn't resolve the problem, and i don't know
what to do. When i read logs, it says "RECV=OK", no error, no warning is
returned.

What can i do to solve the problem?
Thank you very much. Greetings from Canary Islands
