Bug. Need to be fixed ...

I'll check it out ...

First: Nice idea with the feature requests. It would be senseful.
But I expect, Davide implements it only, if Italy will beat France on
WorldCup in Germany 2006 so far. *hrhr*

Nice weekend guys.

[xmail] Ctrl protocol feature request

2005-03-18 Thread CLEMENT Francis
Hello Davide

Just a feature request, suggestion :

Currently there is no 'user rename' fonction.
But as it is current to change users emails on live systems (especialy as
isp)

Sure, we can do the job by hand or from a script
Tasks are :
- Save old account user.tab file
- Temporarly set old account to not receive more mail (flag in user.tab)
- Create new account
- Copy saved user.tab, and current mailproc.tab and mailbox content to new
account directory
- Take a note of any aliases pointing to old address and delete them
- Recreate the aliases to point to new address
- Delete old account (and optionnaly create an alias from old address to new
address for continuity in delivery)
And there is a problem with the current spool ... if at same time of
changes some mail for old user is in the queue ...

I have a program for this task (except queue problem ...) but it is not
'globaly' very fast because of multiple ctrl commands to send to do the task
And the big problem is unicity of the transaction : if a command fail due
to, for example, connectivity, the big problem is to restore
account/aliases/... at original state.

An new ctrl command (userrename ?) could do the job verify fast, internally,
transparently and safely (except local server hardware crach ...)

Any chance to see this new command in xmail ctrl managment protocol in
future ?

Francis

[xmail] Re: Problems with hotmail.com

2005-03-18 Thread CLEMENT Francis

Very long thread here ...

Just four questions :

- Did you report your problem to hotmail ?

If you did not change anything on your server and it worked=20
before, and sudently stop working only with hotmail, and after=20
some basic tests (clear local dns, server cache, clear xmail dns=20
cache, verify your ptr records, nslookup to hotmail mx, nslookup=20
for ptr record, ..., try sending to hotmail with telnet on same=20
machine, verify or add spf records as hotmail use them, ...=20
seems most of these tests where already done)
THEN contact hotmail ...
Seems something at hotmail was changed recently or you are now=20
'blacklisted' internaly at hotmail for some (bad) reasons=20
(new policies at hotmail ? bug at hotmail that spuriously block=20
some servers ...)

- Are you using filters ? in xmail server or in the path between
your xmail server and hotmail servers ?
See if any have been recently updated ? (bug in update, ...)

- Did you try to do smtp traffic analyse (using basic Microsoft
windows network analyser freely installable from add/remove in
windows component or free analysers like very good etherreal) to
track smtp sessions with hotmail to see when the problem starts=20
in the session ? This can help to find the underlaying problem ...

- Did you try sending to hotmail.com with a smtpgw.tab line
pointing to the smtp server at your internet connection provider
(or a not hotmail blocked smtp server from a friend) to confirm=20
that in this case mails are received by hotmail normally ?
"hotmail.com"[TAB]""
This can temporary resolve your problem with hotmail (if you have
no possible gateway to use, ask me) and confirm taht this is not a
mail or session content/format problem ...

Objet : [xmail] Problems with hotmail.com

After a week without solution I made a test to eliminate lan and dns
problems.
Using smtpfwd.tab to forward all messages to hotmail.com and msn.com to =
a
server with CDONTS (Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service) inside our lan I =
could see
that all messages were delivered without problems.

BUT my XMail server couldn't send them directly. I changed xmail's =
server ip
address but without success.

Could someone give me a light about this problem?

Thanks

Edinilson
