[xmail] How to start a mailing list?

2008-02-21 Thread Vladimir Bibel
Hello, could somebody advice me?

I am trying to start a mailing list on xmail server.

I put this line into user.tab:

"ListSender" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

I put mailing list users into mlusers.tab:

"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "RW"
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "RW"
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "R"

But mailing list does not work.

Maybe I have missed something into readme.

[xmail] Error in mail server or in DNS?

2008-10-12 Thread Vladimir Bibel
Hello, I have the following problem and I am not sure it is a question
of X-mail configuration or DNS server configuration.

Problem I am seeing is delivering to certain domains. In particular
@san.rr.com. When I try to connect to their mail server I get the
following error:

[<00>] XMail bounce: [EMAIL PROTECTED];Error=[554 5.5.4 Relaying denied. IP
name lookup failed for 195.12.149.44]
[<01>] Error sending message [1223823851743.3612.1c6.kombi2] from
[infodigest.ba.euroweb.sk].

ID:
Mail From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Rcpt To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Server: [75.180.132.243]
[<02>] The reason of the delivery failure was:
554 5.5.4 Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed for 195.12.149.44
[<05>] Here is listed the initial part of the message:

Received: from kombi2.sk ([193.168.33.333]:1863)
by infodigest.ba.euroweb.sk with [XMail 1.22 ESMTP Server]
id  for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;

Sender: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
From: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
X-Mailer: JMail 3.7.0 by Dimac (www.dimac.net)

195.12.149.44 is a firewall address, 193.168.33.333 is my mailserver

 Many thanks for advice

Regards

[xmail] Where is PTR record?

2008-11-17 Thread Vladimir Bibel

Hello,

I got the following message after sending mail from my mail server:

>
IMTA27.emeryville.ca.mail.comcast.net comcast 195.12.149.44 Comcast
requires that all mail servers must have a PTR record with a valid
Reverse DNS entry. Currently your mail server does not fill that
requirement.

>

My question is: Where is this PTR record - somewhere in xmail config
files? In which one?

Or on a side of my DNS provider?

Many thanks for advice

This is done on the DNS side.

It must be configured so the external IP of your XMAIL server will resolve
to something.

Ex:

XMAIL ip = 1.2.3.4

# nslookup 1.2.3.4
Server: yourdns.net
Address:yourdns.net#53

Non-authoritative answer:
4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa name = yourxmailserver.net.
