thanks, that shows it's broken just that the other tests I used (eg www.samspade.org, and nslookup from a different PC in a different office) did find a mail server ok. hmm. When a thing is used by thousands of users, a basic component like the DNS resolver is very unlikely to be broken. Don't you think ? try to check the DNS. yeah, that was my gut feeling, but I just didnt know why it wasnt working as other tests I did were happily showing a reasonable looking MX record All DNS name virtually end with '.', that is root ah, ok. thought it might have been something like that. Did you try it on the mail server? Maybe the DNS server isn't working right? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Louis Solomon [SteelBytes] Sent: Tuesday, December 17, 2002 8:07 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [xmail] Re: a couple of Qs about the log generated for a bounced email thanks, that shows it's broken just that the other tests I used (eg www.samspade.org, and nslookup from a different PC in a different office) did find a mail server ok. hmm. Hello Louis, Tuesday, December 17, 2002 you wrote: LS but I'm also not sure I trust www.dnsreport.com 100% . try sticking LS steelbytes.no-ip.com into it, and it wont bring up anything. but the LS address does work ! (try it in your browser) It reports correctly but it only reports for domains. In your example you must test for no-ip.com. Testing for steelbytes.no-ip.com will not report correctly.
