As i said in my earlier mail that these type of bug reports are mostly
for laptops and almost all reports says if they connect an external
monitor xserver starts well but in my case its a Desptop PC with a CRT
monitor attached.

I even tried latest Ubuntu 9.04 but still the same result. I can only
run it in low graphic mode. and the errors are same

There is line in logs that says
(II) intel(0): 2 display pipes available.
It this normal for a desktop PC?

Hi,
I tried the intelgraphics driver version 2.7 but still the same error
with no change at all, Even today i tried to install Ubuntu hardy
desktop and it gives the error
(EE) intel(0): No valid modes.
EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

and stuck up.
I googled around and found many posts like this but almost all are
related to laptops where there are 2 displays internal and external but
this is a Desktop PC wiht Intel 965G video graphic on board.

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Problem starting X server on debian lenny

2009-07-09 Thread Imtiaz Ahmed
Hi,

I am having problems starting the xorg server on my desktop that has
Intel 965G Graphic adapter. I have tried many things but still no luck
and kett getting the error
intel(0): No valid modes
Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Have tried without a conf file (so it can use the default)
tried to create a conf file using xorg -configure (same error)

If use use vesa driver instead of intel x server starts but with a blank
screen and i could just see the mouse pointer.

Can someone please help me out of this issue?
I also tried to upgrade the debian from stable to testing release but
still same result.
lspci | grep Graphic
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82G965 Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)
lsmod | grep intel
snd_hda_intel 325688 0
snd_pcm 62596 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss
snd 45604 9
snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device

snd_page_alloc 7816 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm
intel_agp 22556 1
agpgart 28776 1 intel_agp

Imtiaz
