I can reproduce the problem. Simply invoking "make install-strip" will do it. I don't know the root cause of the problem, but a workaround is to "autoreconf -vfi" and then "./configure --prefix ... " This will re-create the configuration using your version of automake. That fixed it for me. The tarball was created from Automake 2.68, I have 2.63. Further investigation is required, it could be the level of automake or just some accident on disk. > > make install-strip DESTDIR=/tmp/package-xcalc V=1 > make INSTALL_PROGRAM="/bin/sh /tmp/xcalc-1.0.4/install-sh -c -s" \ > install_sh_PROGRAM="/bin/sh /tmp/xcalc-1.0.4/install-sh -c > -s" INSTALL_STRIP_FLAG=-s \ > `test -z '' || \ > echo "INSTALL_PROGRAM_ENV=STRIPPROG=''"` install > make[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/xcalc-1.0.4' > make[2]: Entering directory `/tmp/xcalc-1.0.4' > test -z "/usr/X11R7/bin" || /bin/mkdir -p > "/tmp/package-xcalc/usr/X11R7/bin" > /bin/sh /tmp/xcalc-1.0.4/install-sh -c -s xcalc > '/tmp/package-xcalc/usr/X11R7/bin' > /tmp/xcalc-1.0.4/install-sh: line 139: syntax error near unexpected > token `;;' > /tmp/xcalc-1.0.4/install-sh: line 139: ` shift;;' > make[2]: *** [install-binPROGRAMS] Error 2 > make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/xcalc-1.0.4' > make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2 > make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/xcalc-1.0.4' > make: *** [install-strip] Error 2 > > I compared it to the install-sh in xcalc-1.0.3 and it seems random > lines were deleted from the case statement.
