Yeah, I'm on the latest now, just updated. Still really slow. Happens
regardless of kwin's video output, even with compositing off.

[Problem]
Segfault in RADEONInit3DEngineMMIO.

src/radeon_commonfuncs.c:85 indicates perhaps this line is at fault?

if (info->dri->pKernelDRMVersion->version_major < 2) {

Perhaps dri and pKernelDRMVersion need checks for NULL prior to being
dereferenced?

I've had this occur semi-regularly and probably could make it happen again if
more information is need.

This information also appears in dmesg after it happens:

Hum, this shouldn't be possible. Did you force KMS on manually?

> What am I doing wrong?

drm (as in libdrm: git://git.freedesktop.org/git/mesa/drm.git) from
git; be sure to pass --enable-radeon-experimental-api.
Install libdrm then recompile both mesa and the Xorg driver.

if you insist on proprietary driver, r5xx and older are only supported
in the legacy driver (9.3) not the current one.

Testing current 3D on r600

2009-09-25 Thread Marcin Baczyński
Hi
Could you tell me what I need to test current 3D on my RV630?
I have drm-next kernel, current git master mesa and xf86-video-ati
and X.Org X Server 1.6.3.901 (1.6.4 RC 1).
The problem is that when starting X I only get this error:
X: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers//radeon_drv.so: undefined symbol:
drmCheckModesettingSupported
What am I doing wrong?

Thank,
Marcin

You didn't set the monitor section to for DVI-0:

(II) RADEON(0): Output VGA-0 using monitor section L227W
(**) RADEON(0): Option "PreferredMode" "1024x768_60.00"
(II) RADEON(0): I2C bus "VGA-0" initialized.
(II) RADEON(0): Output DVI-0 has no monitor section

It's using the monitor section for VGA-0. You need to set the identifier for
your monitor to DVI-0 as I said.

Re: problems with "ATI proprietary" R500 driver on xorg server 7.0.1

2009-09-25 Thread Cooper Yuan
it seems a workstation card, there are 3 solutions you could try.
1. run two commands in console mode,
"aticonfig --initial=dual-head"
"aticonfig --xinerama=on"
if the two commands are successful, your xorg.conf should has the same
sections with attachement.

2. use one monitor to startx and connect another, and then configure
xinerama by command "amdcccle", this command could provide a friendly GUI to
you.

3. don't use xinerama, just run the command to achieve a single desktop
spanning the two, run "aticonfig –dtop=horizontal".
