[Xpert]tdfx OpenGL
I have serious problems with tdfx OpenGL and Return To Castle Wolfenstein. First problem: when I start RTCW and switch from X to virtual console - XFree86 server dies (I can switch later, but not at beginning). Second one: after playing few minutes - textures are completly messed, I can see how it changes in realtime. And last one: sometimes when I play system hangs. Completly. I tried: - XFree86-4.1.0 - XFree86-4.2.0 - many XFree86 CVS versions (from last months to yesterday) - many kernel versions (2.4.x, -pre, and -ac, now I have 2.4.18-pre9-ac4 and it seems stable - except tdfx) - Glide3 binary from dri.sf.net or compiled myself It's not only RTCW problem - for example objects are messed in Blender (in its older versions). You can say it's application fault. But why there is no problem on other hardware? And why everything works stable (but slw) on my hardware with software rendering? Do you know what else can I try (except switching from Voodoo3 to Radeon) ? -- decopter - free SDL/OpenGL simulator under heavy development download it from http://decopter.sourceforge.net ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
[Xpert]next binary version of XFree86 ?
Sometime ago I wrote here about problems with Radeon and undefined symbols. Yes, it was bad installation problem. CVS version compiles, but only partial. There is problem with compiling os-support/linux (tested on 2 different systems with gcc-2.95.3 and latest Linux kernels (some problem with SIS?)), so I skipped few directories, and now it works. The problem is new RTCW demo doesn't work (hangs whole system, oldest demo and other OpenGL apps work correctly), so maybe it is the reason. I can't use XFree86-4.1.0 with Radeon VE, so I want to ask when next XFree86 version is going to be released, or where can I download any binary post-4.1.0 versions? -- decopter - free SDL/OpenGL simulator under heavy development download it from http://decopter.sourceforge.net ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
[Xpert]Radeon and unresolved symbols
I just installed Radeon VE card. I compiled latest XFree86 CVS and linux kernel 2.4.18-pre1. Without OpenGL it works OK, but when I add to Module section: Loaddri Loadglx X doesn't run and I see: Symbol __glXActiveScreens from module /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libdri.a is unresolved! Symbol __glXActiveScreens from module /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libdri.a is unresolved! kernel module radeon.o is installed and loaded Is OpenGL working with Radeon VE? Where can I see correct XF86Config? Or is it compilation fault? PS. and why (II) RADEON(0): Direct rendering disabled ? -- decopter - free SDL/OpenGL simulator under heavy development download it from http://decopter.sourceforge.net ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
