I have just compiled and install XFree86 4.1 on my linux system. I am using a Voodoo 3 graphics card, a Sony Multiscan 20se || monitor. I am currently install X into /opt/X11R6 just for testing purposes. When I run startx it finds the proper xinitrc file and passes it to xinit, xinit then starts up x and does nothing more from there, it does not execute anything in my xinitrc file. I left my machine on over night and when i got back to it in the morning i had noticed that the information in xinitrc had been parsed and executed. I looked back at the console where i had ran start x and noticed that it said x connection broken to display :0.0 4 times. Does anyone have any ideas on why xinit would be taking so long to execute the information in xinitrc?
