[Xpert]Hi...cyberblade 1400x1050 shift option
HiI have read a posting that suggests there is a parameter to change the horizontal shift of the display using the trident driver with a cyberbladeXP card at 1400x1050 resolutioncan you tell me what the parameter is? I use Option "Display1400" to get the 1400x1050 res to work but encounter the shift issue...I have copied the binary from alan's page just yesterday, will it include the patch? thanks, saul. -- crop -- I have made a fix where you can set the shift as an option by hand. You can then email me the range of values which works for you. I will collect the values take the one with the largest intersect and hard code it in the driver. This patch will be submitted once I find time. It won't happen this week for sure. I'm on a large show doing a XFree86 booth. I always thought that fbdev works in conjuction with the kernel framebuffer...these things can get really confusing! > You may also consider to tell us which graphics card you are using, so > that we could propose alternative solutions. I have an HP xh575 notebook: trident CyberBladeXP and 1400x1050 LCDthe driver does not work on my machine (and others who have the same machine as mine)...I've already taken that route with no luck :(... I tried the fbdev and vesa driversvesa driver has a bug in it that does not allow non su users to startxfbdev is the only one that I can get working well, but without 1400x1050 mode. thanks, Saul. ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
Re: [Xpert]framebuffer dev: 1400x1050
ok..thanks...will try 4.2. btw: Do you know the kernel flag that I should pass to set the default terminal size to 1400x1050? i.e.: vga=? Re: [Xpert]framebuffer dev: 1400x1050
4.1I used to run 4.2 but there were some things that did not seem stable with my system and I reverted back to 4.1. Can I just copy the new version of the fbdev driver or are there other dependencies? > On Die, 2002-02-05 at 18:10, Saul Simhon wrote: > > my card/screen can display up to 1400x1050 pixels, when I use the fbdev > > driver for X, it registers the only allowable options as 1280x1024 and > > 1600x1200 (and some lower res modes). > > What XFree86 version? 4.2.0 is the first one to include a 1400x1050 mode > AFAIK, with earlier ones you'll have to provide one yourself. > > > -- > Earthling Michel Dänzer (MrCooper)/ Debian GNU/Linux (powerpc) developer > XFree86 and DRI project member / CS student, Free Software enthusiast > ___ > Xpert mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert > > ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
Re: [Xpert]framebuffer dev: 1400x1050
my card/screen can display up to 1400x1050 pixels, when I use the fbdev driver for X, it registers the only allowable options as 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 (and some lower res modes). I'm not sure why I cant get 4.2.0 to work with my machine, even with the new drivers...I'm not the only one having this problem so its less likely that I somehow goofed! the "vesa" driver seems to work the best, is there a was I can force the modelines without having to wait for them to be included in the driver! (that's assuming I can determine the modelines! not sure hot to do that either!) [Xpert]CyberBladeXP on HP XH575 laptop (1400x1050 LCD)
Hi, I have an HP laptop that comes with the cyberblade XP video card and a 1400x1050 LCD displayAnd I have a few issues. The primary one is that I can't get X to work with the trident drivertried many times, Xfreee 3.x 4.1, 4.2 , many XF86Config-4 settings, modes, chipsets, and no luck...The closest I got to getting it to work was with XFree 4.1 using the CyberBaldeXP chipset (not XPm)...which gave me small narrow strips of X repeating accross my sceen...everything else just results in a dark screen with a few sharp narrrow lines going horizontally! After lots of tries and reading, I finally got some X funtionality using the VESA driver...(which I guess is like a framebuffer "fbdev")However, I can't get the full pixels my monitor supports...I can only get 1200x1024. does anyone know of how to raise that to 1400x1050? Another side issue that I am running into is that I can only run X as ROOT! anytime a user without su privilages tries to startx, the gnome desktop launches, things load, but right before the desktop appears, it dies...I get a message Caguht Signal 4 in the X log files! (I installed Redhat 7.2)I guess its somehting weird with the permissions...desktop items may not have read access? anyone run into this issue?
