I'm very interested in getting some more cursors for XFree86 4.3; I keep hoping we'll find someone able to do a better job than me. I've solicited many people without success to date... How would I change the cursor theme on the fly, w/o restarting X? Preferably from within a program. I would like to add that option to KDE's kcontrol mouse module. And then, what do I have to check for to see if the installed XFree version supports those nice cursor themes? Tried blueglass, yellowglass but didn't worked. Is there a somewhere that explain this without getting the source code? What are the tools needed for make an own cursor? I mean, what's the format in which the cursor are saved? how can we make ours? We've only got the two related semi translucent themes (redglass and whiteglass). I'd like to see at least a couple more, especially one which used only two colors + transparent for each cursor so that older hardware could use themed cursors without being forced to use software cursors. It's easy enough to build a single cursor, it's just very tedious to build many related cursors and then scale them to a reasonable set of sizes. Around 19 o'clock on Jan 1, Alejandro Lorenzo wrote: What are the tools needed for make an own cursor? Any painting or drawing program. I mean, what's the format in which the cursor are saved? how can we make ours? The Xcursor library uses a custom format (.cur) for the cursor files. XFree86 includes a tool (xcursorgen) that takes a set of .png files along with a configuration (.cfg) file and generates .cur files. Each .cur file contains a set of cursors at different sizes, each size can include multiple images which will be used as an animation (the xcursorgen manual doesn't mention that a delay in ms can be added at the end of the .cfg entry for each image). Use the existing redglass directory as an example. Keith PackardXFree86 Core TeamHP Cambridge Research Lab ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
