Re: [Xpert]ATI Radeon VE and digital output

2001-12-14 Thread Ed Hudson

Most graphics cards, the radeon / ve included, seem to re-read
the monitors 'eedid' information only on power up. for me,
this only works reliably if i have just the dvi cable plugged
into the monitor, not the analog cable, and reboot...

Re: [Xpert]ATI Radeon VE and digital output

2001-12-13 Thread Jeff Brubaker

Actually, I'm using an SGI 1600SW LCD with my Radeon VE right now, all
digital. I never had to change a thing when I switched from VGA to DVI,
XFree just picked the correct resolution automagically.

I'm running XFree86 4.1 from RedHat 7.2.

DVI-I can handle analog and digital, so there must be some sort of
handshake to determine which mode to use. Perhaps there is a setting
that can be changed on your monitor?

[Xpert]ATI Radeon VE and digital output

2001-12-13 Thread Logan Hanks

I have an LCD monitor and an ATI Radeon VE. However, I have been unable
to get digital output from the card. I've built X from the latest CVS, and,
while it seemed to make the analog output much much better, it's still
analog. Has anyone managed to get digital output from this card in XFree86?
If not, are there any developers working on this whom I could assist with
testing, etc.?

I was able to glean from the driver that's currently in CVS that the
card itself is reporting that it is connected to a CRT instead of an LCD.
How does the card tell whether it is connected to an LCD or a CRT?
