Re: [xubuntu-users] MS Office Online Native Wrapper For Xubuntu
"Yet, you want yet another alternative? What for?" simple: options. Advocating people to migrate will easier when they feel comfort with little learning curve to a new environments. I do believe we all are happy to introduced family/coworkers to FOSS community :) "What is the point of bringing closed source software to an open OS unnecessarily?" I am no programmer, sir. Is wrapper a closed source software to begin with? I supposed it workflow just like another web browser, just a little easier to use by user. Also, there is a linux distro packaged this app in their distribution. I can assumed this approach as good marketing to get more people, at least know linux first, and then gradually shifting to another alternatives. We can also see more distros copying OSX appearance in their default setting for the same reason, right? On 04/01/20 20.29, Klaus Maas wrote: Yet, you want yet another alternative? I am advocating just the opposite: Time to learn to work with open software on an open OS. What is the point of bringing closed source software to an open OS unnecessarily? You describe yourself good alternatieves to deal with that situation. Yet, you want yet another alternative? What for? Why do people move to Linux in the first place? Because they cannot afford Windows, but MS Office they can? I can hear the masses screaming: "Give us Linux! But only if it runs MS Office." In this way, I get what I like from the dock and the start menu in a way that best meets my own needs for as much window real estate as possible. RE: MS Office Online Native Wrapper For Xubuntu One of the recent articles was lacking link or citation. I believe the article was looking to see if Xubuntu has a native wrapper for the Microsoft Office Online tool. Turns out Manjaro offered this a few years ago, and the discussion was shared in an article at https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/manjaro-ms-office-online.html That's www.dedoimedo.com/computers/manjaro-ms-office-online.html, in case it doesn't translate correctly through the Email and digest processing.
