[Yade-dev] Yade 2.00?
Hi Anton, Do you think it is now possible to package yade properly including the FlowEngine code, and to distribute binary versions of it? Since it significantly increases the dependencies, do you think there could be two packages, yade and yade-fluid (like we had yade and yade-debug before)? Would it be worth a yade 2.00? :) Bruno -- ___ Bruno Chareyre Associate Professor ENSE³ - Grenoble INP Lab. 3SR BP 53 38041 Grenoble cedex 9 Tél : +33 4 56 52 86 21 Fax : +33 4 76 82 70 43 ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~yade-dev Post to : yade-dev@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~yade-dev More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Yade-dev] Yade 2.00?
Hi Bruno, just wanted to write about it :) I am working on packages with flow-engine now. I should be ready soon. We will probably need to remove Lucid-packages. The distribution is already pretty old and there are some problems with dependencies. Packages for other Ubuntu-distribution will probably work, but we need also to test them. I will let you know. Could you, please, add one simple test or check-script to test FlowEngine during build? We need also to have a look at existing bugs and check, what can we fix/close. It seems, Klaus is working on examples. We probably need to wait, when he finishes. Also it would be good to test all existing examples. At least to look, whether they start. We still have problems with test-builds. But, it seems, there is a problem with buildbot, not with Yade itself. Dem3Dof engine can be removed now. Or we have some dependencies on it? So, I think we can release a new Yade version soon, when we clarify all these points. There is not much actually. The next Yade version, from my point of view, can be just 1.0. But if you think 2.0 will be better, I am ok with that. More opinions? I do not have much time now to contribute to Yade a lot, sorry. But I will try as best as I can. Re: [Yade-dev] Yade 2.00?
Ok, packages with flowengine are built in yade-daily for the Ubuntu versions, starting from 12.04. Lucid packages are not removed, but the new versions will not be built for Lucid any more. Oh dear, we never reached 1.0? Then it should be 1.0 of course, my mistake. > I do not have much time now to contribute to Yade a lot, sorry. But > I will try as best as I can. Re: [Yade-dev] Yade 2.00?
Great! Raphael reported a boot failure after an upgrade of yade-daily, shouldn't openblas be installed automatically by the package manager? Also, what about a separate build for yade+PFV? There has been quite a few problems with all the versions of blas/lapack/atlas/etc in the recent years. For instance, until recently installing openblas would segfault matplotlib. I hope everything will be more stable now, but it would be bad to break yade-daily for everyone in future versions just due to a dependency of the PFV code. Is it painful to generate two different packages? Bruno On 22/08/13 08:04, Anton Gladky wrote: > Ok, packages with flowengine are built in yade-daily > for the Ubuntu versions, starting from 12.04. We can, for example, use PFV for the versions, starting from Precise 12.04 or later. But it should be tested to exactly know, what Ubuntu versions are failing. I am not using Ubuntu any more, so I am not able to do it. Adding one more yade-daily-PFV versions can cause some package-conflicts.
