Jiangtao Wei gave more information on the question:
Dear Bettina,
Thanks for your kindly reply. My question before is not so clear and let me
restate my problem. If we want to know the energy flows during a specific
stage. However, calcEnergy is false before the stage and the shearEnergy will
start from zero. But we know that the elastic shear energy is not zero.

Best regards,
Jiangtao

[Yade-users] [Question #289663]: Total elastic shear energy in Hertz-Mindlin model

2016-03-31 Thread Jiangtao Wei
New question #289663 on Yade:
https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/289663

Dear all,
My question is how to calculate the total shear elastic energy when using
Hertz-Mindlin model. In the code, MindlinPhys_Mindlin.shearEnergy only gives
the incremental shear elastic energy.

Thanks you.

[Yade-users] [Question #218026]: Why there is a difference beteween unTrue and unPerso in the normalInelasticity-test.py?

2012-12-31 Thread Jiangtao Wei
New question #218026 on Yade:
https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/218026

Dear everyone,
In the normalInelasticity-test.py,
i=O.interactions[1,0]
unTrue=i.geom.penetrationDepth
vecDist=upperSphere.state.pos-lowerSphere.state.pos
unPerso=lowerSphere.shape.radius+upperSphere.shape.radius-vecDist.norm()
I think unTrue and unPerso have the same meaning and have the same value. But I
calculated the difference between them and found they were not the same.
