Thanks for the answers. I had thought about applying a counter force as
suggested by Jan, but the idea of applying a permanent force seems to me
to be less costly for the simulation loop than a routine of counter

this approach has a lower computational cost?

Hi everyone!

In just a few particles of my model, I would like to keep the dynamics, but
without the gravitational force on these elements. I mean, I wonder if it's
possible to do this by turning off gravitational acceleration
(NewtonIntegrator.gravity) on just a part of the model's elements and at the
same time having gravitational forces acting on the rest of the model's
particles.

Thank you very much,

Marcus

[Yade-users] [Question #670352]: Problem when using Sphere-GridConnection and Sphere-PFacet interactions together with Law2_ScGridCoGeom_FrictPhys_CundallStrack()

2018-06-20 Thread Marcus Moravia
New question #670352 on Yade:
https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/670352

Hello everyone!

I am interested in the Sphere-GridConnection and Sphere-PFacet contacts. The
problem is that I can not have the two wrappers
'Ig2_Sphere_PFacet_ScGridCoGeom' and 'Ig2_Sphere_GridConnection_ScGridCoGeom'
together with the law 'Law2_ScGridCoGeom_FrictPhys_CundallStrack()', as this
returns me an ambiguous dispatch error (I am using Yade
2018-02-05.git-243ee13). I understand that the law
'Law2_ScGridCoGeom_FrictPhys_CundallStrack()' is important to take into account
a proper frictional force between Sphere and GridConnection. In the simple
script below [please, use it however you want ;-)], after using a comment mark
in the law 'Law2_ScGridCoGeom_FrictPhys_CundallStrack()', do the forces
calculated in the GridConnections are divided and applied in their two
GridNodes?

I appreciate any help with this. Thank you very much,

Marcus.

homothetic displacements (Shop_02.cpp), using only two clumps with the

Moreover, in the simplified script below that consider only the
growParticles function (i.e., function used in the

up the clumps seems to be updated to a value that follows:
new_radius=(multiplier^number_of_clumps)*initial_radius.

Hello everybody!

method. I am using the TriaxialStressController as functional component, like
in the tutorial:

https://github.com/yade/trunk/blob/master/examples/triax-tutorial/script-session1.py

I would like to maintain the proportion of clumps during the growth process of
the spheres (i.e., by keeping also proportional the distance between the
spheres that constitute the clumps), but I do not know how to perform that. Is
there an easy way to do this?

Thank you very much,

New question #659715 on Yade:
https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/659715

Dear all,

I am starting a script to reach a specified porosity using REFD method. But
right at the beginning, I have found some code behaviors that I still do not
understand. In the script below:

1) If I use num=1 in the makeCloud there are no contacts between Facet/Sphere;
2) In the same script, if I activate the gravity=(0,0,-9,81) in
NewtonIntegrator, there are contacts between Facet/Sphere;
3) Even without using gravity, but if I use, for example, 100 spheres (num=100
in the makeCloud), there are contacts between Facet/Sphere.

I'm a little unsure of these behaviors, could you tell me what's going on?

Thank you very much.

Marcus.

Re: [Yade-users] [Question #295158]: Can we create a rigid body using only particles, rather than importing a gts surface.

2016-06-13 Thread Marcus Moravia
Question #295158 on Yade changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/295158

Marcus Moravia proposed the following answer:
Dear Dinesh,

I suggest open a new topic for new questions (https://yade-
dem.org/wiki/Howtoask). In spite of that, I answered your questions
below.

1) "As Jérôme Duriez explained that we could create a model using spheres.
After such creation, should we apply the force law between sand particles and
hopper's spherical particles?"
You should handle sphere+sphere collisions. Thus, you will need to set
collision geometry, collision physics and contact law to apply forces.

2) "This is another question:
As I am trying to write my own code to implement DEM, please suggest me which
visualization tool kit should I use to visualize the spheres, Box, and rigid
bodies as they move with time? Thank you sir."
You may use the Primary View directly from Yade.

Cheers,
Marcus.

Hi Jérôme,

You shared what was missing for me. Now I understand 'matplotlib' that

Thanks a lot for help me.
