Hi,
You need to write a servo-control loop since ultimately the velocity gradient
is the only thing you can really impose.
Typically: impose strain rate in one direction, get stress in that direction as
a result, then keep updating the target stress in the other directions in order
to keep trace(sigma) constant.

Hello, I am a beginner of yade, and I am looking forward to a way to do
a constant-p simulation with periodic boundary condition as well
recently. I met the same question with you coincidentally. After I read
your conversation, the question still confuses me, so I want to ask you
about it. Could you please answer the question for me or express your
ideas? Thanks so much!

Hi, updating goals is the only way (with or without periodicity). I guess
the control loop is more or less stable depending on the parameters, but I
never tried such thing myself and can't give precise advice.

[Yade-users] [Question #679515]: How to have a constant-p simulations with periodic boundary condition?

2019-03-24 Thread panjinhong
New question #679515 on Yade:
https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/679515

Hello, everyone.

I am looking forward to a way to do a constant-p simulation with periodic
boundary condition.

I have done some simulations with TriaxialStressController. At that case, I can
change the stress after a few steps. Because the stress it provide by the wall
would change immediately, I can get a constant-p simulation.

But, when I use periodic boundary condition (PeriTriaxController), I could only
change the Goal Stress. It means that the stress would not change to the target
stress I want immediately, which result in a shaking of the stress (I change
the stress quiet often to keep a constant p ).

Is there some good ways to achieve this kind of simulations?

Looking forward to your help, Thanks!
