[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1352193] [NEW] The nova API service can’t hand image metadata properly when metadata key contains uppercase letter

2014-08-04 Thread lixiangjun
Public bug reported:

OS: centos 6.5 64bit
openstack release: icehouse

Steps to reproduce:
1. Call the image metadata API of nova using the following command:
 curl -X 'POST' -v http://IP:PORT/v2/${tenant_id}/images/${image_id}/metadata
-H X-Auth-Token: $token -H 'Content-type: application/json' -d
'{metadata:{Key1:Value1}}' | python -mjson.tool
2. Execute the above command again:
  curl -X 'POST' -v http://IP:PORT/v2/${tenant_id}/images/${image_id}/metadata
-H X-Auth-Token: $token -H 'Content-type: application/json' -d
'{metadata:{Key1:Value1}}' | python -mjson.tool

Expected result:
In step1, the json response should be:
  {metadata:{Key1:Value1}}
In setp2, the json response should be:
 {metadata:{Key1:Value1}}

Observed result:
In step1, the json response is:
  {metadata:{key1:Value1}}
In setp2, the json response is:
 {metadata:{key1:Value1,Value1}}

Besides, we can observer that each image metadata key in table
image_properties of glance DB is converted to lowercase even if the key
user inputted contains uppercase letter.

** Affects: nova
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1352314] [NEW] Meaningless replacing of slashes with dashes in Keystone tokens

2014-08-04 Thread Kirill Zaborsky
Public bug reported:

It looks like Keystone uses some a bit strange conception of Base64 which does
not include slashes -
https://github.com/openstack/keystone/commit/bcc0f6d6fc1f674bc4b340d041b28bc1cfddf66a
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4648 shows that slash is a valid Base64 character.

So currently for some unknown reason Keystone replaces slashes with
dashes when returning tokens and does the opposite when reading tokens.

I understand that fixing this will break backwards compatibility but it
makes sense at least to document this strange behaviour so developers
accessing Keystone not with Keystone original bindings (e.g. from othe
languages) will not be caught by surprise.

Status in Oslo - a Library of Common OpenStack Code:

Bug description:
  Debug logs should be:

  LOG.debug(message) should be LOG.debug(umessage)

Before the translation of debug log messages was removed, the
translation was returning unicode. Now that they are no longer
translated they need to be explicitly marked as unicode.

This was confirmed by discussion with dhellman. See
  2014-07-23T13:48:23 in this log http://eavesdrop.openstack.org/irclogs
  /%23openstack-oslo/%23openstack-oslo.2014-07-23.log

The problem was discovered when an exception was used as replacement
text in a debug log message:

 LOG.debug(Failed to mount image %(ex)s), {'ex': e})

In particular it was discovered as part of enabling lazy translation,
where the exception message is replaced with an object that does not
support str(). Note that this would also fail without lazy enabled,
if a translation for the exception message was provided that was
  unicode.

Title:
debug log messages need to be unicode

Status in Cinder:
  Confirmed
Status in OpenStack Compute (Nova):
  In Progress
Status in Oslo - a Library of Common OpenStack Code:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  Debug logs should be:

  LOG.debug(message) should be LOG.debug(umessage)

Before the translation of debug log messages was removed, the
translation was returning unicode. Now that they are no longer
translated they need to be explicitly marked as unicode.

This was confirmed by discussion with dhellman. See
  2014-07-23T13:48:23 in this log http://eavesdrop.openstack.org/irclogs
  /%23openstack-oslo/%23openstack-oslo.2014-07-23.log

The problem was discovered when an exception was used as replacement
text in a debug log message:

 LOG.debug(Failed to mount image %(ex)s), {'ex': e})

In particular it was discovered as part of enabling lazy translation,
where the exception message is replaced with an object that does not
support str(). Note that this would also fail without lazy enabled,
if a translation for the exception message was provided that was
  unicode.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1352405] [NEW] Storage on hypervisors page incorrect for shared storage

2014-08-04 Thread Adam Huffman
Public bug reported:

The storage total and storage used shown on the Hypervisors page does not take

I'm guessing this is keystone reading from the apache httpd stderr

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1351438] Re: Code repetition in modal body and footer

Title:
Code repetition in modal body and footer

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):
  Invalid

Bug description:
The modal code below is very common and we see it repeated in many
  templates.

  {% block modal-body %}
  div class=left
  fieldset
  {% include horizon/common/_form_fields.html %}
  /fieldset
  /div
  div class=right
  h3{% trans Description: %}/h3
p{% trans Choose the rule you want to remove. %}/p
  /div
  {% endblock %}

  {% block modal-footer %}

Some value %} /
    a href={% url 'url' %} class=btn btn-default secondary cancel close{%
trans Cancel %}/a
  {% endblock %}

We need to provide a mechanism to replace these values in the base
modal_form.html in python instead. That way, there is less template
clutter. This would keep the code cleaner and would likely work better
with serialization for angular in the future.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1352510] [NEW] Delete and re-add of same node to compute_nodes table is broken

2014-08-04 Thread Chris Behrens
Public bug reported:

When a compute node is deleted (or marked deleted) in the DB and another
compute node is re-added with the same name, things break.

This is because the resource tracker caches the compute node object/dict
and uses the 'id' to update the record. When this happens,
rt.update_available_resources will raise a ComputeHostNotFound. This
ends up short-circuiting the full run of the update_available_resource()
periodic task.

This mostly applies when using a virt driver where a nova-compute
manages more than 1 hypervisor.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1339107] Re: Kyestone: Auth token not in the request header

2014-08-04 Thread Dolph Mathews
Actually, I totally overlooked that the request was in the logs, to POST
/v2.0/tokens. There should not be an X-Auth-Token in a request to POST
/v2.0/tokens anyway, so that's completely normal. The rest of the logs
in the problem description are also completely normal, so far as I can
tell.

Without further details, all I can say regarding the admin user is not
authorized for some commands is that there must be some sort of other
misconfiguration in the deployment - likely something that should have
been handled by packstack?

Finally, I don't see how https://www.redhat.com/archives/rdo-
list/2014-June/msg00067.html is related?

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1211582] Re: Filter user list by partial attributes

2014-08-04 Thread Dolph Mathews
I'm going to ignore the mentions of firstname and lastname, since
the patch above ignores them as well.

Up until now, a user's email address has been considered metadata on the
user that Keystone itself makes no guarantees or assumptions about. If
email is to be a first class attribute, I'd like to have a solid use
case on why Keystone needs to care about the attribute in addition to
name (which can also be an email address, for all keystone cares), and
then we need to talk about validation, backwards compatibility and
expectations across backends.

If someone would like to pursue this, let's pick up this discussion in a
spec. If you create one, please link it here for posterity.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1350792] Re: In case of HTTP 40x error on HEAD method, the Content-Length will be set incorrectly.

2014-08-04 Thread Dolph Mathews
Comparing just the method difference with curl, I'm not able to
reproduce this. Further, this behavior matches our understanding of
HEAD. The non-zero Content-Length basically indicates to the client how
large the response body would be in a normal GET request.

$ curl http://localhost:35357/v3/groups/invalid_group_id/users/invalid_user_id
--header x-auth-token=ADMIN
{error: {message: Could not find user: invalid_user_id, code: 404,
title: Not Found}}

$ curl --head
http://localhost:35357/v3/groups/invalid_group_id/users/invalid_user_id
--header x-auth-token=ADMIN
HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

In case of HTTP 40x error on HEAD method, the Content-Length will be
  set incorrectly.

Status in OpenStack Identity (Keystone):
  Invalid

Bug description:
  [description]
In case of HTTP 40x error on HEAD method, the Content-Length will be set
incorrectly.
The response body is none. So the Content-Length should be zero.
But some value was set as the Content-Length.

This problem occurred in the following API.
  - HEAD /v3/groups/{group_id}/users/{user_id}
  - HEAD /v3/domains/{domain_id}/users/{user_id}/roles/{role_id}
  - HEAD /v3/domains/{domain_id}/groups/{group_id}/roles/{role_id}
  - HEAD
/v3/OS-INHERIT/domains/{domain_id}/users/{user_id}/roles/{role_id}/inherited_to_projects
  - HEAD
/v3/OS-INHERIT/domains/{domain_id}/groups/{group_id}/roles/{role_id}/inherited_to_projects

  At this moment,
  - curl are waiting for response body but that is no needs to wait.
  - keystone server will not send response body even if some value was set as
the Content-Length.

If using Apache + mod_wsgi for keystone deployment, following messege will be
shown, but curl will not be waited for response body.
curl: (18) transfer closed with 162 bytes remaining to read

  [steps to reproduce]
Run the API listed in description section by curl to occur HTTP 40x error.
At that time, the condition is like follows.
  - Specify unauthorized token
  - Specify invalid domain_id / user_id / role_id

  [condition]
  - Ubuntu 14.04 LTS server
  - using devstack

  [about HEAD]
  http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec9.htm

The HEAD method is identical to GET except that the server MUST NOT
return a message-body in the response. The metainformation contained
in the HTTP headers in response to a HEAD request SHOULD be identical
to the information sent in response to a GET request.

It looks like the above module tries to do a import rbd and ends up
importing itself again instead of the global library module.

A quick fix would be renaming the file to rbd2.py and changing the

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1352619] [NEW] Cisco plugin module become the neutron dependence

2014-08-04 Thread Neo
Public bug reported:

In the former neutron db migration code. We don't have to install the
cisco plugin module if user don't need it. But now, because of the
latest merged py file
https://github.com/openstack/neutron/blob/master/neutron/db/migration/alembic_migrations/versions/5446f2a45467_set_server_default.py
import the cisco_constants(line 34), the user have to install it.
Otherwise, it will raise a cisco module miss error. However, this is a
neutron plugin, it should not be the neutron dependence.

The error can be reproduced by runnig neutron-db-manage --config-file
/etc/neutron/neutron.conf --config-file
/etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/ml2_conf.ini current.

Error information.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1352635] [NEW] Allow Cisco ML2 driver to use the upstream ncclient

2014-08-04 Thread Juergen Brendel
Public bug reported:

Currently, the Cisco ML2 driver relies on a specially patched and
maintained custom version of the ncclient 3rd party library for
communication with various switches.

Changes have been submitted to the upstream ncclient now so that there
is no need to maintain a separate version of the ncclient anymore.

To take advantage of the new ncclient version, a small change needs to
be made to the Cisco ML2 driver, so that it can detect whether the old
(custom) ncclient is installed, or whether the new upstream ncclient is
used.

Installation and maintenance will be simplified by not requiring a
custom version of the ncclient.

situations where the API code is half way through assembling data to
return to the client when the instance disappears underneath it. We
really need to ensure everything we will need is retreived up front so
we have a consistent snapshot view of the instance

Title:
Multiple Floating IP Pools is not full functional

Status in OpenStack Neutron (virtual network service):
  Expired

Bug description:
I'v tested 'Multiple Floating IP Pools' and refer to the Doc of
  http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-
  network/admin/content/adv_cfg_l3_agent_multi_extnet.html

But there are some of issues:

  1. Besides create external networks and router before invoke multiple
l3-agent services, it also needs to do following process, otherwise router will
not work normally
- set gateway for router (quantum router-gateway-set)
- add subnets of internal network to router (quantum
router-interface-add)
  2. After multiple l3-agent services is invoked, it can't remove or add any
interfaces from the router. There is no any error when your do these processes
either via commands or dashboard, but in the network node,no any updates
happened in the router namespace.

  3. Can't disassociate Floating IPs, same phenomenon like above, no
errors in the commands and dashboard, but Floating IP still exists in
  the router namespace.

BTW 'Multiple Floating IP Pools' is a really import, because it is
hard to get a large number (B class or half B)and continue public IP
address. In general it will a several of C class IP addresses. In this
case it has to create many network nodes with L3-agent to support
support it if can't run 'Multiple Floating IP Pools' in same network
  node.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1352619] Re: Cisco plugin module become the neutron dependence

2014-08-04 Thread Kevin Benton
This is a packaging bug. Distributions should not be breaking apart the
neutron code.

See this similar RedHat bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1120332

They resolved it by putting all of the code into a python-neutron
package.

** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1120332

Title:
Cisco plugin module become the neutron dependence

Status in OpenStack Neutron (virtual network service):
  Opinion

Bug description:
In the former neutron db migration code. We don't have to install the
cisco plugin module if user don't need it. But now, because of the
  latest merged py file

https://github.com/openstack/neutron/blob/master/neutron/db/migration/alembic_migrations/versions/5446f2a45467_set_server_default.py
import the cisco_constants(line 34), the user have to install it.
Otherwise, it will raise a cisco module miss error. However, this is
a neutron plugin, it should not be the neutron dependence.

The error can be reproduced by runnig neutron-db-manage --config-file
  /etc/neutron/neutron.conf --config-file
  /etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/ml2_conf.ini current.

  Error information.
  [root@rhelhw ~]# neutron-db-manage --config-file /etc/neutron/neutron.conf

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1352698] [NEW] neutron context doesn't include auth token

2014-08-04 Thread Isaku Yamahata
Public bug reported:

Discussed with the thread starting with
http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2014-July/040644.html

Neutron context isn't populated with auth token unlike nova, glance.
Since there are several (potential) users for it. servicevm project, routervm
implementation(cisco csr1kv, vyatta vrouter),
it makes sense for neutron context to include auth token.

** Affects: neutron
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
