Title:
  live_migration() takes exactly 7 arguments (6 given) if upgrade_levels
  compute=kilo

Status in OpenStack Compute (nova):
  Expired

Bug description:
  I have Liberty controller (nova-api, etc.) with

  [upgrade_levels]
  compute=kilo

  and Liberty compute node, when i try live-migration
  i see "live_migration() takes exactly 7 arguments (6 given)"
  in nova-compute.log.

  I can not completely remove compatibility with kilo,
  because i have kilo computes in my env.

  I also tried to add "upgrade_levels" to compute node,
  but with no luck.

  Environment
  ==
  Libvirt+KVM, Ceph for VMs
  Liberty - Mirantis OpenStack 8.0 (2015.2)

  Steps to reproduce
  ===
  1) Install Liberty control plane (api, conductor, schduler, etc.)
  2) Install Liberty computes
  3) Add to nova.conf on controller
[upgrade_levels]
compute=kilo
  3) Try "nova live-migration VM"

  Expected result
  =
  Migration will succeed

  Actual result
  ==
  Traceback on compute node

  Upgrading from Liberty to Mitaka erased passwords from SQL backend

Status in OpenStack Identity (keystone):

Bug description:
  This bug was reported in IRC on July 7, 2016 by jmlowe. Creating this
  for tracking purposes.

  IRC log: http://eavesdrop.openstack.org/irclogs/%23openstack-keystone
  /%23openstack-keystone.2016-07-07.log.html

  Environment:
   - 3 total controllers (2 RDO and 2 Ubuntu) - all installed from vendor
packages
   - 3 node Galera cluster
   - installed Liberty circa-December 2015
   - upgraded to recent Mitaka version

  jmlowe found that after the migration LDAP users could login fine, but
  SQL users could not. Upon further investigation the password hashes
  were no longer in the database (the new `password` table was empty).

  The lack of password records in the Passwords table and the fact that
  the password column was removed from the User table leads me to
  believe that migration 091 is to blame.

  So far I have not been able to reproduce the issue.

  this is because the function probes for files that are in different
  locations on SLES, namely it looks for "/usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.fd"
  / /usr/share/AAVMF/AAVMF_CODE.fd which are the documented upstream
  defaults. However the SLES libvirt is compiled to default to different
  paths, that exist.

  one possibility would be to introspect domCapabilities from libvirt,
  which works just fine. An alternative patch is to just add the
  alternative paths for now.

Dear bug triager. This bug was created since a commit was marked with DOCIMPACT.
Your project "openstack/nova" is set up so that we directly report the
documentation bugs against it. If this needs changing, the docimpact-group
option needs to be added for the project. You can ask the OpenStack infra team

Author: Eric Brown
Date:   Fri Dec 4 11:39:18 2015 -0800

VMware: Enforce minimum vCenter version of 5.5

As of Ocata, the minimum version of VMware vCenter will be
enforced at 5.1.0. And any version less than 5.5.0 will be
warned as deprecated. In two releases, 5.5.0 will become the
new minimum version.

The VMware driver CI will has already migrated to vCenter 6.0.

DocImpact: Need version updates on the minimum vCenter included in

  Hello,

  in our productive Openstack environment we encountered in the last weeks that
Openstack Nova VM Live migrations fails.
  Currently this is only visible in our automated test environment. Every 15

  We examined the respective hypervisors for some problems with the NFS
share/mount, but everything looks really good. Also the message log file shows
no issues during the test timeframe.

  The next step was to examine the Nova code to get a hint why Nova is bringing
up such an error.
  In the Nova code we found the test procedure how Nova checks if there is a
shared filesystem between source and destination hypervisor.

  In "nova/nova/virt/libvirt/driver.py"

  In function „check_can_live_migrate_destination“ a temporary file is created
on the destination hypervisor:

  # Create file on storage, to be checked on source host
  filename = self._create_shared_storage_test_file()

  After that – in the same class - in function „check_can_live_migrate_source“:
  dest_check_data.is_shared_instance_path = (
  self._check_shared_storage_test_file(
  dest_check_data.filename))

  will be checked if the temporary file exists. And this will sometimes fail
and migration returns with this error message because the file on the source
hypervisor is not yet available:

Use ConfigParser instead of SafeConfigParser

SafeConfigParser supports interpolation on top of ConfigParser in
Python 2, and SafeConfigParser is deprecated in Python 3.2 and log
warning like " DeprecationWarning: The SafeConfigParser class has
been renamed to ConfigParser in Python 3.2. This alias will be removed
in future versions. Use ConfigParser directly instead." So we can use
ConfigParser if we don't need interpolation.

Title:
  add-router-interface can not recover when failing
  create_port_post_commit

Status in neutron:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  When the following situation, a port created that no one can delete
  it:

1. Configure ML2 plugin.
2. Execute router-interface-add with subnet_id and failed in
create_port_post_commit

After that, undeletable port is created.
Even if the admin tries to delete the port, he cannot delete it.

  case1: delete-port with port_id
=> Port {port_id} cannot be deleted directly via the port API: has
device owner network:router_interface.

  case2: router-interface-delete with subnet_id or port_id
=> Router {router_id} has no interface on subnet {subnet_id}
=> Router {router_id} does not have an interface with id {port_id}

  [How to fix]
create_port_post_commit has a recovery process. When failed, then calls
delete_port. However, in this case, 'device_owner' and 'device_id' have
already
registered at port's DB. Therefore, delete_port fails due to device_owner
check.

Hence, I'll add 'l3_port_check=False' into delete_port's argument.

  [Environment]
trunk(devstack all-in-one with ML2 plugin(openvswitch))

  [How to reproduce]
  * You have to arrange create_port_post_commit shuld be failed.

Turn on docs warning check in document generation

Use -W (turn warnings into errors) option of sphinx-build
in the commandline of 'docs' tox target so that developer
can easily check sphinx warning.

Also runs the same documentation check in 'pep8' tox target
to detect sphinx warning in the gate.
The current 'docs' job in the gate does not use 'tox -edocs'
intentionally and calls build_sphinx via 'tox -evenv' [1],
so sphinx warnings are not detected in the 'docs' job.

Note that we no longer generate the whole code reference so this
change does not increase the time of 'tox -epep8' much,
while we can prevent new sphinx warnings.

Fix unnecessary bullet point

There are some place being displayed unnecessary bullet point.
 - Error message in login page (This ticket has a screenshot).
   There is no need to use 'ul'.
 - The row of 'No users/groups' in Project Member/Group tab in
   Create/Update Project modal.
 - The row of 'No projects found' in Flavor Access tab in
   Edit Flavor modal.
   There are same structure as a membership. So it needs to
   add a nav class.
This patch fix it.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1629460] [NEW] python35 values for http status codes not ints

2016-09-30 Thread Eric Brown
Public bug reported:

The values of Python 3.5 http status codes via http_client.OK, for
example, are enums not ints like in py27 and py35. This can cause
potential trouble and the unit tests are catching the difference.

Python 2.7/3.4
>>> from six.moves import http_client

  But looking at the requirements.txt in stable/newton, even
  oslo.log>=1.14.0 is claimed to work.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1463525] Re: There is no volume encryption support for rbd-backed volumes

2016-09-30 Thread Sean McGinnis

Title:
  There is no volume encryption support for rbd-backed volumes

Status in Cinder:
  Fix Released
Status in OpenStack Compute (nova):
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  This came up as a discussion point in the nova IRC channel today
  because someone was talking about adding encryption support to Ceph in
  Nova and I pointed out that there is already a ceph job that runs the
  tempest luks/cryptsetup encrypted volume tests successfully, so why
  aren't those failing if it's not supported today?

  We got looking at the code and logs and found that when nova tries to
  get volume encryption metadata from cinder for rbd-backed instances,
  nothing comes back so nova isn't doing anything with volume encryption
  using it's providers (luks / cryptsetup).

  Change https://review.openstack.org/#/c/189799/ in nova adds logging
  to see this:

  Confirmed that for LVM backed Cinder we get something back:

  http://logs.openstack.org/99/189799/2/check/check-tempest-dsvm-
  full/c3ee602/logs/screen-n-cpu.txt.gz#_2015-06-09_18_18_18_078

  For Ceph we don't:

  http://logs.openstack.org/99/189799/2/check/check-tempest-dsvm-full-
  ceph/353db23/logs/screen-n-cpu.txt.gz#_2015-06-09_18_21_16_723

  This might be working as designed, I'm not sure, but I'm opening the
  bug to track the effort since if you think you have encrypted volumes
  when using ceph and nova you're probably not, so there is a false
  sense of security here which is a bug.

Bug description:
  The new subnet pool support in devstack breaks multinode testing bceause it
results in the route for 10.0.0.0/8 being set to via br-ex when the host has
interfaces that are actually on 10 nets and that is where we need the routes to
go out. Multinode testing is affected because it uses these 10 net addresses to
run the vxlan overlays between hosts.
  For many years devstack-gate has set FIXED_RANGE to ensure that the networks
devstack uses do not interfere with the underlying test host's networking.
However this setting was completely ignored when setting up the subnet pools.

  I think the correct way to fix this is to use a much smaller subnet
  pool range to avoid conflicting with every possible 10.0.0.0/8 network
  in the wild, possibly by defaulting to the existing FIXED_RANGE
  information. Using the existing information will help ensure that
  anyone with networks in 10.0.0.0/8 will continue to work if they have
  specified a range that doesn't conflict using this variable.

  In addition to this we need to clearly document what this new stuff in
  devstack does and how people can work around it should they conflict
  with the new defaults we end up choosing.

  I have proposed https://review.openstack.org/379543 which mostly works
  except it fails one tempest test that apparently depends on this new
  subnet pool stuff. Specifically the V6 range isn't large enough aiui.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1629396] [NEW] create images requires admin role ignoring policy.json

2016-09-30 Thread Matt Keenan
Public bug reported:

Setup a default OpenStack environment using keystone's sample_data.sh
This gives user "glance" the "_member_" role for project "service".
Couple this with a policy.json containing the following:

  {
"context_is_admin":  "role:admin",
"default": "",

"add_image": "",
"delete_image": "",
.
.
  }

If you attempt to create a new image as "glance" user it fails with following
error:

   403 Forbidden: You are not authorized to complete this action. (HTTP
403)

Delving into the code you can see is_admin is enforced:

 api/authorization.py:new_image():

 if not self.context.is_admin:
 if owner is None or owner != self.context.owner:
 message = _("You are not permitted to create images "
 "owned by '%s'.")
 raise exception.Forbidden(message % owner)

Thus indicating that the user creating images must have "admin" role for this
project.

However this same user can successfully delete images, as delete uses
policy enforcement only and adheres to whatever is defined within
policy.json:

  api/policy.py:delete():

  def delete(self):
  self.policy.enforce(self.context, 'delete_image', self.target)
  return self.image.delete()

This seems inconsistent, image creation should probably use policy enforcement
and not have a hard coded requirement for admin role.

api-ref: add versions history

The 'versions' response contains the status of the Images API versions,
but does not indicate the releases when the statuses went into effect.
This patch adds a Version History to the 'versions' api-ref page. The
language used (for example, "Bexar changes") is consistent with what's
been adopted for other parts of the images api-ref (see the discussion
on https://review.openstack.org/#/c/356693/ )

This patch is current for Newton:
- v1 deprecation: already merged as commit
  63e6dbb1eb006758fbcf7cae83e1d2eacf46b4ab
- v2 minor version bump: the dependency stated below

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1629374] [NEW] Instance Filter misidentified with equal sign

2016-09-30 Thread David Medberry
Public bug reported:

GUI Bug.

The Horizon Instances page/frame shows at the top a filter and the
default filter is to filter by instance name (and this bug likely
applies to other filters as well). It shows

Instance Name= (enter name here)

However, it really filters on something akin to %FILTER% ie, the term
just has to APPEAR in the name, not be equal to it. The equal sign sends
the wrong message and I'd suggest omitting it. I'll submit a patch when
I can find this area in the code.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1629368] [NEW] Assert fails if Subnet has extra fields

2016-09-30 Thread sunny
Public bug reported:

Why assertion checks are done in such a way that if a subnet has couple
more fields other that {u'name', u'enable_dhcp', u'network_id',
u'tenant_id', u'dns_nameservers' , u'ipv6_ra_mode',
u'allocation_pools',u'gateway_ip', u'ipv6_address_mode', u'ip_version',
u'host_routes', u'cidr', u'id', u'subnetpool_id'} the assertions  fails
?

The tests should check all these fields are present and it should just
pass regrdless is that subnet has more fields.

for ex: subnet-show outputs:
assertion between [1] and [2] should pass.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1596473] Re: Packet loss with DVR, router MAC learned and flapping

2016-09-30 Thread wondra
I've probably found the problem. On the compute nodes, I did not have
enable_distributed_routing = True
In the [agent] section of the ml2_conf.ini. As a result, the mechanism that
prevents MAC address conflicts was disabled. It is interesting that it worked
that good without it.

  Packet loss with DVR, router MAC learned and flapping

Status in neutron:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Already posted on the Operator mailing list without answer
  http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.cloud.openstack.operators/5920

  I've stumbled upon a weird condition in Neutron and couldn't find a bug
  filed for it. So even if it is happening with the Kilo release, it could
  still be relevant. I've also read the commit logs without finding anything
relevant.

  The setup has 3 network nodes and 1 compute node currently hosting a virtual
  network (GRE based). DVR is enabled. I have just added IPv6 to this network
  and to the external network (VLAN based). The virtual network is set to SLAAC.

  Now, all four mentioned nodes have spawned a radvd process and VMs are
  getting globally routable addresses. Traffic has been statically routed to
  the subnet so reachability is OK in both ways.

  However, the link-local router address and associated MAC address is the
  same in all 4 qr namespaces. About 16% packets get lost in randomly occuring
  bursts. Openvswitch forwarding tables are flapping and I think that the
  packet loss occurs at the moment when all 4 switches learn the MAC address
  from another machine through a GRE tunnel simultaneously. With a second VM on
the
  network on another compute node, the packet loss is 12%.

  Another router address and the external gateway address resides in a snat
  namespace, which exists in only one copy. When I tell the VM to route
  through that, there is no packet loss. My best solution for this so far is
  by passing a script to the VM through user-data that changes the gateway and
  adds a rc script to do the same on reboot.

  Is there any way to change the behavior to get rid of the MAC address
  conflict? I have determined that pushing a host route to the VMs is not
supported
  for IPv6. Therefore, the workaround is not feasible if uninformed users will
be
  launching VMs.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1511589] Re: maas provider, hwclock out of sync means juju will not work

  The only thing a user can do is touch each machine, sometimes booting
  them into an OS to fix their hwclock (which can still drift from that
  point, of course).

  This error path is exposed when the stock 'ntpdate' from ubuntu does
  not work, for instance, if your lab is behind a proxy.

commit 1a80c8899d541fe451afb030d5011cf8c7543a3c
Author: Wenzhi Yu
Date:   Thu Apr 28 10:32:44 2016 +0800

Report actual request_spec when MaxRetriesExceeded raised

If a MaxRetriesExceeded exception is raised by
scheduler_utils.populate_retry then request_spec will be empty in the
exception handler[1], then _set_vm_state_and_notify method will just
put a empty dict as request_spec into the payload of notification[2].
It would make more sense if we report the actual value of request_spec
in the notification.

[2]https://github.com/openstack/nova/blob/13.0.0.0rc3/nova/scheduler/utils.py#L109

Simply moving the initialization of request_spec up one line before the
call to populate_retry should fix the issue.

  Instance source is the template used to create an instance. You can use a

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1403020] Re: Kwarg 'filter_class_names' is never passed to HostManager#get_filtered_hosts

2016-09-30 Thread Huang Zhiteng
Cinder's FilterScheduler has a few places called get_filtered_hosts()
but none of these invocations passed filter_class_names, however this
doesn't necessary mean current host manager or filter scheduler needs
fixing. Deployers may have out-of-tree scheduler driver does pass in
customized filter_class_names which can make use of this type of
flexibility. Therefore, I don't think we need to fix this 'bug' in
Cinder.

Topology filter out non tenant ports

This change filters out ports presented to the topology view which

ports can be present when an admin creates an instance and ties and instance
