Bug description:
set_time_override was written as a helper function to mock utcnow in
  unittests.

However we now use mock or fixture to mock our objects so
  set_time_override has become obsolete.

We should first remove all usage of set_time_override from downstream
projects before deleting it from oslo.

List of attributes and functions to be removed from timeutils:
  * override_time
  * set_time_override()
  * clear_time_override()
  * advance_time_delta()
  * advance_time_seconds()

Fix icon of status on network topology

Currently, the icon of status on network topology is wrong because
of incorrect icon. There are two issues:

1. The icon of router status is in red color though it's active.
2. The icon of interface status is missing.

fix missing l2pop config option docs

The l2pop ML2 mechanism driver's configuration options are no longer
being generated during the docs build. This patch adds the l2pop
config options back into the ml2 sample config generation and also
fixes a link to them in the admin docs.

This fix is a candidate for backport to pike.

Treat lack of segment info in port object as unbound

A push notifications change added segment information
to the get_device_details() RPC call, but sometimes the
segment information is not present, resulting in an
AttributeError. Just treat the lack of segment info
as if the port was unbound, since the port is probably
in the process of being removed.

The code in question doesn't check if 'segment' is valid before using

  fix it.

This code was added in the push notifications changes:

  commit c3db9d6b0b990da6664955e4ce1c72758dc600e1
  Author: Kevin Benton
  Date: Sun Jan 22 17:01:47 2017 -0800

  Use push-notificates for OVSPluginAPI

Replace the calls to the OVSPluginAPI info retrieval functions
with reads directly from the push notification cache.

Since we now depend on the cache for the source of truth, the
  'port_update'/'port_delete'/'network_update' handlers are configured
to be called whenever the cache receives a corresponding resource update.
The OVS agent will no longer subscribe to topic notifications for ports
or networks from the legacy notification API.

Fixing hyperlink issue

Fixes a documentation hyperlink issue -:

* Refer to doc page -:
https://docs.openstack.org/neutron/latest/contributor/internals/openvswitch_agent.html
for string "Networking in too much detail"

* Hyperlink for above string is broken
  It is pointing to
http://openstack.redhat.com/Networking_in_too_much_detail#Networking_in_too_much_detail

* Instead it should point to
http://openstack.redhat.com/networking/networking-in-too-much-detail/

* This fix would correct the hyperlink on the doc page.

Target context when setting instance to ERROR when over quota

When conductor does the quota recheck, the instances are created
in a cell but when we update the instance and set it to ERROR state,
we were not targeting the context to the cell that the instance lives
in, which leads to an InstanceNotFound error and then the instance
is stuck in BUILD/scheduling state.

This targets the context to the cell when updating the instance.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1717386] [NEW] Heat docker plugin unable to start containers on latest Docker

2017-09-14 Thread Daniel Park
Public bug reported:

Recent versions of Docker no longer seem to support parameters when
starting a container.

Thus the Heat docker plugin will cause the following error to occur:
starting container with non-empty request body was deprecated since v1.10 and
removed in v1.12"

Where problem is occurring:
https://github.com/openstack/heat/blob/master/contrib/heat_docker/heat_docker/resources/docker_container.py#L449

Example template to use:
heat_template_version: 2013-05-23
description: >
Heat template to deploy Docker containers to an existing host
resources:
  hello:
type: DockerInc::Docker::Container
properties:
  image: nginx

Static Ceph mon IP addresses in connection_info can prevent VM startup

Status in OpenStack Compute (nova):
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The Cinder rbd driver extracts the IP addresses of the Ceph mon servers from
the Ceph mon map when the instance/volume connection is established. This info
is then stored in nova's block-device-mapping table and is never re-validated
down the line.
Changing the Ceph mon servers' IP adresses will prevent the instance from
booting as the stale connection info will enter the instance's XML. One idea to
fix this would be to use the information from ceph.conf, which should be an
alias or a loadblancer, directly.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1547142] Re: A shelved_offload VM's volumes are still attached to a host

commit e89e1bdc60211622440c964f8be8563da89341ac
Author: Andrea Rosa
Date: Thu Sep 14 13:47:06 2017 -0400

Call terminate_connection when shelve_offloading

When nova performs a shelve offload for an instance, it needs to terminate
all the volume connections for that instance as with the shelve offload
it is not guaranteed that the instance will be placed on the same host once
it gets unshelved.
This change adds the call to the terminate_volume_connections on the
_shelve_offload_instance method in the compute manager.

Bug description:
When shelve_offloading a VM, the VM loses it's connection to a host.
However, connection to the host is not terminated to it's volumes, so they
are still attached to a host.

Afterwards, when the VM is unshleved, nova calls initialize_connection
to the new host for it's volumes, and they are now connected to 2
  hosts.

The correct behaviour is to call terminate_connection on the VM's
  volumes when it's being shelved_offloaded

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1485578] Re: It is not possible to select AZ for new Cinder volume during the VM creation

2017-09-14 Thread Gary W. Smith
This bug was last updated over 2 years ago, and the launch instance
has been entirely re-written. Can you reproduce the error with a
current release of horizon? If the issue still exists, please
feel free to reopen it.

Title:
It is not possible to select AZ for new Cinder volume during the VM
  creation

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Steps To Reproduce:
  1. Deploy OpenStack cluster with several Nova availability zones, for
example, 'nova1' and 'nova2' and with several Cinder availability zones, for
example, 'storage1' and 'storage2' (availability zones for Nova and Cinder
should be different).
  2. Login to Horizon dashboard and navigate to Project > Instances
  3. Click on 'Launch Instance' button
  4. Set all required parameters, select Nova AZ 'nova1' for new VM and select
Instance Boot Source = "Boot from image (creates new volume)"
  5. Click on 'Launch' button

  Observed Result:
Instance will fail with "Failure prepping block device" error (please see
attached screenshot horizon_az_bug.png)

  Expected Result:
As a user I expect that Horizon UI will provide me the ability to select the
availability zone for new volume if I want to create new volume and boot VM
from it. We can't use Nova AZ as availability zone for Cinder volume because
these zones are different availability zones (we can have, for example, 1 Nova
availability zones and many Cinder availability zone or one Cinder AZ and many
Nova AZs - it depends on users needs).

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1454305] Re: Error in displaying ceilometer measurements plot

been many changes to horizon and its theming support since then, this is
getting marked as Invalid. If the issue still exists, please

Title:
Error in displaying ceilometer measurements plot

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Dear colleague,

When installing ceilometer (controller node) and trying to visualize
the measurements through the dashboard there is an error. A black
sandbox is shown instead of the graph / plot. This is shown in a tab
named 'Resource Usage' within horizon; clearly, it can only be seen
  when ceilometer is installed.

I discovered there were two css files causing issues, namely
  datepicker3.css and rickshaw.css.

Below is the output from /var/log/apache2/error_log

  [Tue May 12 14:07:26.756949 2015] [wsgi:error] [pid 4158] Not Found:
/horizon/lib/bootstrap_datepicker/datepicker3.css
  [Tue May 12 14:07:26.759705 2015] [wsgi:error] [pid 4155] Not Found:
/horizon/lib/rickshaw.css

I realised other files, e.g., js files, were under the /static parent
directory, and so the missing .css files.

In brief, when looking at /srv/www/openstack-
  dashboard/openstack_dashboard/static/dashboard/scss> horizon.scss

and substituting the first two lines:

  // Pure CSS Vendor
  @import "/horizon/lib/bootstrap_datepicker/datepicker3.css";
  @import "/horizon/lib/rickshaw.css";

  by the following:

  @import "/static/horizon/lib/bootstrap_datepicker/datepicker3.css";
  @import "/static/horizon/lib/rickshaw.css";

the problem is fixed and the plot is shown on the screen.

  Hope it helps,
  Sergio.
  P.D.

  Author: Timur Sufiev
  Date: Wed Mar 4 16:15:04 2015 +0300

Fix web-server memory overrun when downloading objects from Swift

To prevent memory overrun when downloading large objects from Swift
  * `resp_chunk_size` keyword should be passed to swiftclient
  * `obj.data` iterator returned from swiftclient is passed to HttpResponse
(or StreamingHttpResponse for Django>=1.5) as usual since both response
classes work with iterators/files/byte strings (yet
StreamingHttpResponse
does it better).

The commit introduces new setting SWIFT_FILE_TRANSFER_CHUNK_SIZE that
defines the size of chunk in bytes for Swift objects downloading.

Quotas for users with admin role do not work

The quotas code does not isloate counts to resources within the
current tenant/project. So if a user with the admin role makes
calls for quota items, the admin role will have counts of a global
list of resources. This changes that for the tenant quota call
to fallback to the request.user.project_id if no project was
otherwise specified for the tenant quota api call.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1716746] Re: functional job broken by new os-testr

https://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/networking-bgpvpn/commit/?id=8f576a2ccb2aa16ff1585b93c4fbb58247d209bd

commit 8f576a2ccb2aa16ff1585b93c4fbb58247d209bd
Author: Thomas Morin
Date: Wed Sep 13 13:28:11 2017 -0600

Fix post gate hook to accommodate for new os-testr

New os-testr uses stestr under the hood, which creates .stestr but not
.testrepository directory in the current dir. Other than that, it
doesn't seem like there is any difference in the format or names of
files generated in the directory.

(shamelessly stolen from I82d52bf0ad885bd36d2f0782a7c86ac61df532f2)
Co-Authored-By: Ihar Hrachyshka

This change also wraps up another fix (simultaneous voting test job
breakage) related to a recent change in the neutron repository of
the import statements for ml2 config.

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):

Bug description:
On Admin->System->Networks->[network detail]->Create Port there is no
option to provide the ip address for the port to be created on.

This exists in the corresponding API (neutron port-create) and should

Also, I'd expect this to be available in any Project level create port

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1394549] Re: Unnecessary use of 'aggregate_instance_extra_specs' prefix while updating metadata on Host Aggregates

2017-09-14 Thread Gary W. Smith
This bug was last updated nearly 3 years ago, and as there have
been many changes to both nova and horizon since then, this is
getting marked as Invalid. There is also no reference to
'aggregate_instance_extra_specs' in the horizon code base. If
the issue still exists, please feel free to reopen it, and
provide additional details on how to reproduce it.

Title:
Unnecessary use of 'aggregate_instance_extra_specs' prefix while
  updating metadata on Host Aggregates

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):
  Invalid

Bug description:
While updating metadata for hoist-aggregate there is added prefix
  'aggregate_instace_extra_specs' by default.

  For example:

  "aggregate_instance_extra_specs:cpu_info:topology:cores = 2"

This is totally unnecessary. AggregateInstanceExtraSpecsFilter requires only
flavors (instance types) to have defined
  'aggregate_instance_extra_specs' prefix. I believe that
AggregateInstanceExtraSpecsFilter in nova is the only place
where this prefix is used. Main goal of this bug is to remove adding
'aggregate_instace_extra_specs' prefix
while updating metadata on Host Aggregates in horizon.

Bug description:

  Bug description:
In the view of "Volumes", provided that some volume whose status is "in-use"
or it is being attached to a VM. If the associated VM is deleted, this will
trigger the detaching of the volume. If the volume detaching process is failed
by whatever reason, then the volume becomes attached to an already-deleted VM.
On Horizon, we now can see the info for example of "Attached to None on
/dev/vdb" in the column of "Attached To".

If now, we try doing "Edit attachments" (for example, in order to
detach the died VM) then Horizon dashboard always pop up the error of
"Error: Unable to retrieve volume information" and the purpose of
  detaching is aborted.

  Proposal:
Such an error has to be disabled and the process of "Edit attachments" should
be continued.

disappears from the dashboard completely with no error message.

Not sure exactly how to fix it as it involves nova and glance too.
On the nova-compute node that the instance is running on that is being
snapshoted and error is caught eg.

No error message prompt during attaching when mountpoint is occupied

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):

Status in OpenStack Compute (nova):
  Expired

Bug description:
Correct me if I am wrong.
When we attach a volume to an instance at the mountpoint /dev/vdb, I expect
that there should be a error message prompt in horizon if /dev/vdb is already
occupied by, for example, another instance. Currently there is no error message
prompt.

  How to create this bug:
  1, Launch one instance.
  2. Create a first volume and a second volume.
  3. Attach the first volume to the instance at the mountpoint /dev/vdb and
succeed.
  3. Attach the second volume to the same instance at the same mountpoint
/dev/vdb.

  Expected output:
A message should tell user that the mountpoint is occupied, not available or
something.

  Actual output:
No message shows. The second volume is still available.

On the Create Volume form, Volume Limits section, the Total Gigabytes
displayed currently is only
the total size used by all volumes. This should also include the total size
used by volume snapshots.

Volume Limits: Total Gigabytes = (Total volume size + Total Snapshot size)
  usages.gigabytesUsed = usages.volumesGigabytesUsed +
usages.snapshotsGigabtyesUsed

Similarly, this computation should be made for the Create Snapshot
  form.

Create Volume form shows incorrect Total Gigabytes

Title:
Volume snapshots do not count towards the storage usage in Create
Volume / Extend Volume / Create Volume Snapshot modal

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):
  In Progress

Bug description:
There is a single storage quota value for both volumes and volume
snapshots. This is reflected in Project Overview panel where the total
sizes of all volumes and volume snapshots is displayed on the pie
  chart.

However, in Create Volume, Extend Volume, and Create Volume Snapshot
modals only the total sizes of all volumes is displayed. Even though
the actual used storage includes snapshot usage as well. Storage quota
applies to the total sizes of volumes and volume snapshots.

To reproduce the issue within one project:
  1. Set project quota for Gigabytes to 5
  2. Create a volume "vol1" of size 2 GB
  3. Create a snapshot of "vol1" called "snap1"
  4. Create a volume "vol2" of size 2 GB. You'll notice the "Create Volume"
modal shows 2 / 5 GB storage is used. But the volume creation fails. (if you
change the quota to 6 volume creation succeeds).
  5. Similarly create a second snapshot of "vol1" called "snap2". Again the
"Create Volume Snapshot" modal shows 2 / 5 GB storage is used. But snapshot
creation fails. (if you change the quota to 6 snapshot creation succeeds).

Suggestion is to show the total sizes of all volumes and volume
  snapshots in those modals.

Please find attached the graph of average page load response time of Horizon

commit ffd9f484df8d4c6c7de36313beb3a76f0daa8296
Author: Kaitlin Farr
Date: Mon Sep 11 16:54:28 2017 -0400

Makes list method not abstract

Any implementations of key_manager that don't have "list"
defined (i.e. ConfKeyManager in Nova and Cinder) will not be
instantiable if they try to use a version of Castellan
that was released after "list" was added. Adds a default
implementation of "list" that returns nothing for backwards
compatibility.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1137060] Re: RPC timeouts (when using raw image backend for example)

Title:
RPC timeouts (when using raw image backend for example)

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Release found: Folsom

  Environment:
A single node running all services
  Ubuntu 12.04
  Using Ubuntu cloud archive packages

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Upload a big image, for example a windows 7 image of 8GB (I guess any big
image will do, but we verified this with a big win7 image)
  2. Add the following flag to nova.conf: libvirt_images_type=raw and restart
nova-compute
  3. Use horizon to launch 20 instances at once, using the win7 image

  Current result:
Only 3..7 out of 20 instances are able to launch successfuly, all other
instances become in error state because of rpc timeout of nova-network

  Expected result:
Higher ratio of success preferably 20, maybe by limiting the amount of
allowed instances that can be started when raw backend is being used. Or maybe
this should be done by limiting system io for the spawn instance process?

  Additional info:
If we change to libvirt_images_type=default the exact same hardware/setup can
launch 20 instances without any rpc timeouts. It seems that the big image copy
part is causing heavy load, but when using qcow2 it uses a backing file so it
doesn't have to copy the whole image.

Related error log which shows the RPC timeout:
  http://paste.openstack.org/show/32687/

When you use nova-network in multi_host mode the same issue may be
experiencied when launching lots of instances. So another way to
reproduce is to deploy several nodes all running nova-network
  multi_host and then launch 20 x N instances where N == amount of
  compute nodes.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1717266] [NEW] VPNaaS: VPN creation not working in case of distributed virtual routers (Pike)

2017-09-14 Thread Christoph Fiehe
Public bug reported:

I have manually setup a fresh OpenStack Pike HA environment based on
Ubuntu 16.04.3 in conjunction with DVR. VPN creation works fine in case
of centralized routers, but when a VPN gets created in the context of
distributed routers, all VPN services and connections turn their state
to ACTIVE, but a connection between different clients connected via VPN
is not possible. The error log does not contain any errors.

My environment comprises 2 controller nodes (also functioning as network
nodes) and 3 compute node. Each controller node runs a neutron-vpn-
agent, whereas each compute node runs a neutron-l3-agent which is
unaware of any VPN settings.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1717245] [NEW] openstack router set --external-gateway creates port without tenant-id

2017-09-14 Thread Juraj Linkeš
Public bug reported:

Adding an external gateway to router creates port without tenant-id. It
also creates a security group without tenant-id and it's rules are also

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1620967] Re: Neutron API behind SSL terminating haproxy returns http version URL's instead of https

2017-09-14 Thread Christoph Fiehe
** Changed in: neutron
Status: In Progress => Fix Released

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Yahoo!

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1620967

Title:
Neutron API behind SSL terminating haproxy returns http version URL's
  instead of https

Status in neutron:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
This is a re-post of an issue that was reported for an older OpenStack
version. Unfortunately, I am confronted with the same problem in
OpenStack Mitaka. Keystone has a proper support for the case, when you
  use SSL terminating via HAProxy.

  Have a look here:
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1259351

  Description of problem:

When using haproxy with SSL termination in front of neutron, neutron
will return version URL's with http:// prefix instead of https://.
This causes API clients to fail.

  How reproducible:

  Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Configure HAproxy in front of Neutron with SSL termination (so client
talks to neutron over SSL, HAproxy talks to Neutron over plain HTTP)
  2. curl https://openstack-api.example.com:9696

  Actual results:

  {"versions": [{"status": "CURRENT", "id": "v2.0", "links": [{"href":
  "http://openstack-api.example.com:9696/v2.0";, "rel": "self"}]}]}

  Expected results:

  {"versions": [{"status": "CURRENT", "id": "v2.0", "links": [{"href":
  "https://openstack-api.example.com:9696/v2.0";, "rel": "self"}]}]}

  Additional info:

I patched this issue in /usr/lib/python2.7/site-
  packages/neutron/api/views/versions.py:

  def get_view_builder(req):
  base_url = req.application_url
  if req.environ.get('HTTP_X_FORWARDED_PROTO', None) != None:
  base_url = base_url.replace('http://', 'https://')
  return ViewBuilder(base_url)

Then neutron returns the proper https URL. The X-Forwarded-Proto
  header is inserted by haproxy.

Note: this issue is present in other openstack api's as well but can
be worked around by setting public_endpoint explicitly. This option is
  not available in neutron however.
