My only point is that I wanted to provide at least one example which will show a custom script being invoked as the launch_command instead of an existing command in the image. Note, for such an example, it will always be invalid since we have to use a made-up script name. That's why for this one example, I wanted it to go with a made-up image like "my-nginx:latest". Anyway, I think this is a very good suggestion. However, it is overloading this jira a little since the main intent of this is to bring YARN-Services-Examples.md at par with the current code. Is it okay if I ask you to file a separate subtask under the parent and we address the image-name/launch-command changes there? > Update YARN-Services-Examples.md to be in sync with the latest code > --- > > Key: YARN-7781 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-7781 > Project: Hadoop YARN > Issue Type: Sub-task >Reporter: Gour Saha >Assignee: Gour Saha >Priority: Major > Attachments: YARN-7781.01.patch, YARN-7781.02.patch, > YARN-7781.03.patch, YARN-7781.04.patch, YARN-7781.05.patch, YARN-7781.06.patch > > > Update YARN-Services-Examples.md to make the following additions/changes: > 1. In fact ./start_nginx.sh does not even exist and is for example only. For functional examples, the site-documentation leads users to Examples.md (YARN Service Examples) from Overview.md. The API doc states that launch_command is an optional custom command for a docker artifact (and start_nginx.sh was used as an example). Having said that, I do agree that we should rename the artifact id from "nginx:latest" to something like "my-nginx:latest" to keep the intent clear. YARN still has performance limitations in heterogeneous environment. I don't think we want to mix Linux and Windows in nodes attributes example. [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-7781?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel=16436085#comment-16436085 ] Billie Rinaldi commented on YARN-7781: -- Hey [~gsaha], thanks for taking over this ticket. I looked at the new patch and it mostly looks good. There is a problem with our existing documentation surrounding the AM kerberos principal/keytab. If you look at patch 02, Jian had added some documentation indicating that a service principal containing a hostname must be used for the AM. I pointed out offline that this means that we cannot support an hdfs:// URI for the keytab because a different keytab would be needed for each host, and we don't know which host will run the AM (sorry I forgot to also comment on the ticket). Jian decided to postpone updating the kerberos documentation and removed that information from the following patch. Perhaps we should fix the kerberos example as Jian did in patch 02 and also adjust the docs so that they don't say hdfs is supported for keytabs? YARN-7787 will determine whether the _HOST requirement can be lifted. > Update YARN-Services-Examples.md to be in sync with the latest code > --- > > Key: YARN-7781 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-7781 > Project: Hadoop YARN > Issue Type: Sub-task >Reporter: Gour Saha >Assignee: Jian He >Priority: Major > Attachments: YARN-7781.01.patch, YARN-7781.02.patch, > YARN-7781.03.patch, YARN-7781.04.patch > > > Update YARN-Services-Examples.md to make the following additions/changes: > 1. I am still not 100% sure that requesting a service to change state using present perfect progressive tense or past tense like Ambari are the right way to go about REST API requests. Can we fill in the value or remove them for ease of reading? Two possible FAQs which are not clear from usage screen, docker ENTRY_POINT support and mount user defined mount points. [jira] [Commented] (YARN-7781) Update YARN-Services-Examples.md to be in sync with the latest code
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-7781?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel=16341700#comment-16341700 ] Gour Saha commented on YARN-7781: - Thanks [~jianhe] for the patch. Quick comments - 1. In YarnServiceAPI.md: Seems like "|false|string||" moved to a new line instead of being on the same line for "principal_name". 2. Fix the 2 whitespace errors. 3. In YARN-Services-Examples.md in the below section, is the "name" attribute with value "hello" required? The URI path already says that it is for the component name hello. So we should not need anything other than "number_of_containers" in the body. {noformat} ### Update to flex up/down the number of containers (instances) of a component of a service PUT URL - http://localhost:8088/app/v1/services/hello-world/components/hello # PUT Request JSON ```json { "name": "hello", "number_of_containers": 3 } {noformat} 4. Don't we support a PUT URL – [http://localhost:8088/app/v1/services/hello-world] where we can pass a single JSON and flex multiple components in a single API call? This is what I mentioned in point 1 in this jira description. > Update YARN-Services-Examples.md to be in sync with the latest code > --- > > Key: YARN-7781 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-7781 > Project: Hadoop YARN > Issue Type: Sub-task >Reporter: Gour Saha >Assignee: Jian He >Priority: Major > Attachments: YARN-7781.01.patch > > > Update YARN-Services-Examples.md to make the following additions/changes: > 1.
