[yocto] ERROR: Task (/home/$USER/poky/meta/recipes-devtools/gcc/gcc-crosssdk_12.2.bb:do_compile) failed with exit code '1' #debian #devtool

2023-03-06 Thread Set
I am building Yocto on a WSL2 instance on a Win 11 development environment.

So, things used to build. Now, I am receiving this error: ERROR: Task
(/home/$USER/poky/meta/recipes-devtools/gcc/gcc-crosssdk_12.2.bb:do_compile)
failed with exit code '1'

Could this be due to the lack of prerequisite dependencies for building?

Thank you for reviewing.

Yes, the goal was to enable newer features for more recent platforms from last
2-3 years so meta-intel kernel with MACHINE values works without having to add
all these to KERNEL_FEATURES while building.

That can be done. Are you suggesting that we add a MACHINE specific new file
here and enable these newer features in that file (like Wind River does it
using bsp/intel-x86?). But, even then won't we always have this problem
whenever we have a set of new features that need to be enabled?

All these configuration fragments are being enabled in intel-x86/ config as
well and will be enabled in the new file we add so it just seems like a lot of
work will be duplicated to avoid having to create a new baseline/common set of
configs ... What if we create a intel- common/intel-common-drivers-extra.scc
which enables these configs so intel-common-drivers.scc can continue to have a
base set?

[yocto] Yocto Project Newcomer & Unassigned Bugs - Help Needed

2023-03-06 Thread Stephen Jolley
All,

The triage team is starting to try and collect up and classify bugs which a
newcomer to the project would be able to work on in a way which means people
can find them. They're being listed on the triage page under the appropriate
heading:

https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Bug_Triage#Newcomer_Bugs Also please
review:
https://www.openembedded.org/wiki/How_to_submit_a_patch_to_OpenEmbedded and
how to create a bugzilla account at:

https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/createaccount.cgi

The idea is these bugs should be straight forward for a person to help work
on who doesn't have deep experience with the project. If anyone can help,
please take ownership of the bug and send patches! If anyone needs
help/advice there are people on irc who can likely do so, or some of the
more experienced contributors will likely be happy to help too.

Also, the triage team meets weekly and does its best to handle the bugs
reported into the Bugzilla. The number of people attending that meeting has
fallen, as have the number of people available to help fix bugs. One of the
things we hear users report is they don't know how to help. We (the triage
team) are therefore going to start reporting out the currently 423
unassigned or newcomer bugs.

We're hoping people may be able to spare some time now and again to help out
with these. Bugs are split into two types, "true bugs" where things don't
work as they should and "enhancements" which are features we'd want to add
to the system. There are also roughly four different "priority" classes
right now, "4.2", "4.3", "4.99" and "Future", the more pressing/urgent
issues being in "4.2" and then "4.3".

Please review this link and if a bug is something you would be able to help
with either take ownership of the bug, or send me (sjolley.yp...@gmail.com
) an e-mail with the bug number you would
like and I will assign it to you (please make sure you have a Bugzilla
account). The list is at:
https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Bug_Triage_Archive#Unassigned_or_Newcomer
_Bugs

Thanks,

Re: [yocto] [meta-raspberrypi] Is Preempt-rt still supported in master / latest releases?

2023-03-06 Thread Carles Sole via lists.yoctoproject.org
Hello all,

in case it helps someone else I found the dependency that was avoiding the RT
patch to be applied to raspberrypi4-64 build.

In bcm2711_defconfig for arm64 KVM is enabled. If KVM is disabled then the
patch is applied.

So in .cfg file you can add:
CONFIG_KVM=n

[yocto] [meta-security][PATCH 3/3] meta-tpm/layer: lower the priority from 10 to 6

2023-03-06 Thread Jose Quaresma
The priority change on sumo version without any description.
Since then is very hard to add in other layers a new version
of any recipe on this layer with such priority so these patch
reverts the priority back to 6.

That is expected at the moment, since we are cross compiling on the
host, but natively building on the target.

kernel-devsrc takes steps to ensure that kernel reconfiguration
doesn't happen on target (which I assume you aren't seeing), but it
doesn't fix that up.

In kernel devsrc, I could also fix that compiler string in the
captured .config, but we can't change the kernel-build-artifacts
.config, as it is used for future cross builds.

There is at least a decade worth of i7 CPU out there that don't have TSN
support, IIRC.

I can't help but think that this, and a lot of the other options you've
enabled in this series are aimed at the latest and greatest, but will
just add bloat to a lot of other lower end (and older) x86-64 platforms.
Especially anything that lands in intel-common/intel-common-drivers.scc

I can't really tell what the goal was, since your series didn't have the
typical "[0/11] intel: add options for " explanation preamble.

But it seems like perhaps maybe it is time to create a new file under
the bsp/intel-common dir that reflects a certain board or family of
products that have these features -- vs. being confined to the existing
categorization dictated by existing files?

Maybe you can describe what your end goal was, and we can go from there.

Paul.

Re: [yocto] Question about psuedo abort errors

Hello all,

I think Qi found something. But lets see all points raised one by one:

The file is indeed being created by the good execution of the do_package stage.
But on subsequent execution the build fails on do_install.
It is not being deleted outside of pseudo. As I wrote above besides a copy we
do not touch the WORKDIR folder.
Right now I have deleted that build in order to make new builds but the inodes
matched with all those files into WORKDIR since they were hard links.
The strange thing now is that while some executions before the problem was 100%
reproducible now it is not. This is very odd.

I am using:
INHERIT += "rm_work"
RM_WORK_EXCLUDE += "... lib32-las lib32-ldh ..." in local.conf
Since you spoke about dependencies:
ldh recipe depends on las. Both are excluded from rm_work. Sometimes we have
observed the same install issue problem also to ldh recipe.

Yes. When I reproduced the error and made my tests.

I do not know. I guess it might runs for every recipe and if that recipe is in
RM_WORK_EXCLUDE it just exits?

>
> This is also odd since if rm_work did run, shouldn't the unpack/patch

I guess that rm_work invocation did not removed anything. Since WORKDIR files
were all there. As wrote above it run and then exists doing nothing since
RM_WORK_EXCLUDE is set.

I am like 99% sure that nothing is touching files outside pseudo. But either
way I will observe the issue and report back in case I find something more and
if reproduced again.

>
>
>

I checked the PSEUDO_IGNORE_PATHS of the recipe.
S = "${WORKDIR}/git/v2"
So:
PSEUDO_IGNORE_PATHS=".
WORKDIR/lib32-las/M-WBS0.1-r0/git/v2,
WORKDIR/lib32-las/M-WBS0.1-r0/git/v2"

So as you see the v2 path is into the PSEUDO paths. But the file in question is
one path above and those files are being installed via do_install
install -m 0644 ${WORKDIR}/git/lasiflib/include/* ${D}${includedir}

Would above be the reason somehow? That not the whole ${WORKDIR}/git is not
into PSEUDO?
I could add in PSEUDO_IGNORE_PATHS the S = "${WORKDIR}/git to see if this will
solve the problem.

But first I need to manage to reproduced the error again. Manually right now I
cannot. I will wait till next invocation of our CI.

Regards,
Panagiotis
