[yocto] glibc failure during core-image-minimal bitbake

Re: [yocto] Using smart within an SDK

Thanks Randy.

I stepped through the process of making an extensible SDK based on my
image. Is the conf/locked-sigs.inc file the manifest you mentioned?

Unfortunately, devtool is failing for me ("ImportError: No module
named site"...looks like the SDK is missing a python library?) but it
is great to at least be able to build it and get a sense of the
contents.

I'm uploading my sstate to a server so theoretically updating would be
a process of grabbing items from this server cache into the
'sstate-cache' directory within the SDK? If I needed a new package
not originally included in the SDK, I would do something like devtool
get opencv-dev?

Thanks for any insights. I realize this is work-in-progress so I'm
just looking to get a sense of how things might work.

[yocto] bitbake core-image-minimal failure

2015-05-22 Thread Patricia Holden
I'm trying to create a barebones linux for a demo board based on Intel
Atom. I've got a kernel patch to add to it, so I created a BSP for Yocto
linux, gave it the config & patch and now I want to create a live image to
boot via USB stick onto the target board. I got a basic bitbake done with
no problems. I tried to run Qemu and got "missing movbe". So I dropped
that course of action since I've got time limitations to get this project
done. I tried to get SDK going, but ran into compile error for GLIBC. So
I added the "IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " glibc-staticdev", got tons of
errors. So I dropped that course of action too. I read in the manual to
use IMAGE_FSTYPE = "live" to build a bootable image, so I'm doing
that now. Once I've got this demo part done, I need to add an app for the
real target so I really would like to get Qemu/SDK going.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Ah right, of course, in daisy we didn't use a separate build dir, I had
forgotten.

Hmm, so this is very strange - I just switched to the daisy branch, copied in
the php recipe from meta-oe master, set the config (in my case I simply set the
PACKAGECONFIG_pn-php = "mysql sqlite3 pgsql" in local.conf, which should be
pretty much equivalent to what you did), and built it, and I didn't get any
errors at all. It's possible the issue may be triggered by something you have
installed on your build host however (not that it should, it shouldn't be
looking at the host at all - that's the source of this problem). Did you copy
in any other recipes from master or just php?

Cheers,
Paul

Easiest way will be to create a .bbappend file in your layer which sets
DROPBEAR_EXTRA_ARGS="-s -g"
-s Disable password logins.
-g Disable password logins for root.

---
do_install_append() {

case "${MACHINE}" in "my_special_machine" )
echo 'DROPBEAR_EXTRA_ARGS="-s -g"'> ${D}${sysconfdir}/default/dropbear;;
*);;

This is not an appropriate workaround - you can't just cut pieces of the build
out like this.

Re: [yocto] How to enable php5 (php_5.5.24.bb) support for postgresql

2015-05-22 Thread yocto yocto
Thanks for helping me. My *.bbappend looks now like this:

PACKAGECONFIG_append_class-target = " pgsql"

"bitbake php" results now in:

ERROR: This autoconf log indicates errors, it looked at host include and/or
library paths while determining system capabilities.
Rerun configure task after fixing this. The path was
'[...]/core2-32-poky-linux/php/5.5.24-r0/php-5.5.24'
ERROR: Function failed: do_qa_configure
ERROR: Logfile of failure stored in:

ERROR: Task 5 ([...]/recipes-devtools/php/php_5.5.24.bb, do_configure)
failed with exit code '1

>From the recipe I can see that

do_configure_prepend
do_configure_append

exist. For test purposes I added an empty

do_configure () {
}

This results in

ERROR: Function failed: do_install
(Much text)
cp: cannot stat 'ltmain.sh': No such file or directory
(Much text)
ERROR: oe_runmake failed

[yocto] Configuring dropbear ssh

2015-05-22 Thread Matthew Karas
I've tried googling and searching for a while about this.

How do I set up yocto to configure dropbear ssh?

I'd like to prevent password access over ssh, only permitting key access.

Thanks.

[yocto] [meta-oe] build error using read-only-rootfs with samba

2015-05-22 Thread Johannes Pointner
Hello,

I recently upgraded to fido and tried to build core-image-x11 but I
get the following error if I include the samba package:

Collected errors:
* extract_archive: Cannot create symlink from ./var/log to
'volatile/log': File exists.

I think I was able to find the cause of the problem, it seems that
samba package is trying to install /var/volatile/log/samba as well as
samba-base package by using the volatile script.

But I'm not sure, why the samba package is creating /var/volatile/log/samba.

Thx,
Hannes

Oops, yes, that was my mistake in my original reply - should be class-target
not class-native.

Re: [yocto] How to debug a custom image creation script?

2015-05-22 Thread Spriggs, Jim
Hi Paul,
Rodger, thanks.

Strangely, log.do_rootfs says:

NOTE: The image creation groups are: [['ext3', 'tar'], ['sdcard']]
and
NOTE: Running image creation script for sdcard:
.../tmp/work/mymachine-poky-linux-gnuabi/my-image/1.0-r0/temp/create_image.sdcard
 ...
and
NOTE: Creating symlinks for sdcard image ...

But nothing between the last two, as if the output from "create_image.sdcard"
is not being captured after all.

That script is present, and appears to contain everything from my bbclass.
The .rootfs.sdcard is being created in deploy/images, albeit with bogus
contents (which is why I want to debug the script), so I have every reason to
think that img_creation_func() is indeed being called.
However, not even a simple "echo" at the start of img_creation_func() leaves
anything visible in log.do_rootfs.

I guess either I'm still doing something wrong, or the problem with "bbnote",
etc., is not just confined to the UI.

I'm using dizzy, btw.

Greets,

You should see output printed here in log.do_rootfs for the image you are
building. In case you're unaware, you can find this in the directory pointed to
by the T variable for the recipe, the following command will show this to you:

bitbake -e your-imagename | grep ^T=

As an aside, we do want to change the bbwarn/bbnote/bberror etc. shell
functions to output to the UI just like the python equivalents do, it's a known
issue that they do not. There's a bug open for that (assigned to me as it
happens):

  https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5275

I should really get that one sorted out for the next release.

Cheers,
Paul

Re: [yocto] How to enable php5 (php_5.5.24.bb) support for postgresql

2015-05-22 Thread yocto yocto
I set BBCLASSEXTEND = "native" active again. My php_5.5.24.bbappend looks
like this (just one line):

PACKAGECONFIG_append_class-native = " pgsql"

However, the error still persists, nothing changed:

-
ERROR: Nothing PROVIDES 'postgresql-native' (but /recipes-devtools/php/
php_5.5.24.bb DEPENDS on or otherwise requires it). Close matches:
  postgresql
  strace-native
  popt-native
NOTE: Runtime target 'php' is unbuildable, removing...
Missing or unbuildable dependency chain was: ['php', 'php-native',
'postgresql-native']
ERROR: Required build target 'myImage-image' has no buildable providers.
Missing or unbuildable dependency chain was: ['myImage-image', 'php',
'php-native', 'postgresql-native']

Summary: There were 2 ERROR messages shown, returning a non-zero exit code.

When changing php_5.5.24.bbappend to

#PACKAGECONFIG_append_class-native = " pgsql"

everything compiles but of course the support for pgsql is missing. I found
this: https://www.yoctoproject.org/irc/%23yocto.2013-12-17.log.html But
this discussion is not helping me (search for postgresql-native)

And add leading space in append instead of += (_append + += always looks
wrong as the only function of += is to add the leading space), change it
to:

PACKAGECONFIG_append = " pgsql"

Did you enable runtime package management (i.e., is "package-management" in
IMAGE_FEATURES (or indirectly via EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES)?) If you're not sure,
you can use bitbake -e to check.

If it isn't enabled, that would explain the behaviour because smart/rpm think
that no packages are installed because there is no package database in the
image.

You should see output printed here in log.do_rootfs for the image you are
building. In case you're unaware, you can find this in the directory pointed to
by the T variable for the recipe, the following command will show this to you:

bitbake -e your-imagename | grep ^T=

As an aside, we do want to change the bbwarn/bbnote/bberror etc. shell
functions to output to the UI just like the python equivalents do, it's a
known issue that they do not. There's a bug open for that (assigned to me as
it happens):

  https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5275

I should really get that one sorted out for the next release.

Cheers,
Paul

Change your PACKAGECONFIG_append lines in your bbappend to use
PACKAGECONFIG_append_class-native instead and you should be able to progress.
Also, you very likely shouldn't be removing the BBCLASSEXTEND.

[yocto] How to debug a custom image creation script?

2015-05-22 Thread Spriggs, Jim
Hi Guys,

I'd like to have my custom layer generate an sdcard image, so I've implemented
a classes/image_types_x.bbclass.
This contains, amongst other things, the (bash) function
generate_x_sdcard().
Being a naïve n00b, I assumed that I could just scatter "bbnote"s, "echo"s, or
even "set -x" around inside the function to my heart's content,
and would be able to see the output "somewhere".
Trouble is, I can't find it anywhere!

So what is the best/approved/obvious way to get debug traces out of a bbclass
function?

If I am already doing the Right Thing, where should I be looking for the output?

Thanks for listening, and for any clues!

PS: sorry about the company sig., I can't switch it off.
