2008-01-14 Thread Carlos López

Hi guys,

it's good to know the next release is about to come, but it's true, each one
has to finsish his/her tasks.

For this in the end I'll need Tobia's PC, unless I somehow find a way to store
it in my machine. I have used an external disk up until now, but now I use it
for another thing. I don't know now where to store OOo build. I think it's time
to leave anything else aside and center my attention in OOo. Yoper 3.1 MUST
have OOo available!

Well, being honetst, I don't like much the theme. It's a weird mixture between
KDE and Gnome (for that of having the kicker on top) and not much eye-candy. I
would also love to have a different wallpaper so the user have the sensation of
more changes under the scenes. Using a quite old wallpaper will look like more
of the same thing. I would like to have different home icon because it doesn't
look like a house at first sight, at least this was what happened to me, and I
change it. However, I'm aware we don't have anyone good at graphic design, so
I can't ask for too many changes all of a sudden. If only we had someone
willing to help in this...

[yoper-dev] Preparing a public 3.1 Release

2008-01-08 Thread Tobias Gerschner
Hi,

The new bits and pieces for Yoper 3.1 fall all nicely together. The
core of the new features is implemented with mainly clean up tasks
left over.

The main tasks left to be done by () are :

- cleaning up initscripts ( me + individual packagers for the
respective packages )
- fixing networkmanager ( me )
- openoffice ( musikolo )
- rebuilding apps to use oss v4 ( apriori + individual packagers for
the respective packages )

- migrate and update remaining packages ( all packagers )
- discuss new look and interface improvements ( everyone )

Here a quick layout concept that I'd like to have in yoper 3.1 by
default. It has to be proven very usable for a productive environment.
http://www.yoper.com/screenshots/yoper-3.1-discuss_default_01.png

The small panel on top of the screen actually hides after 3 sec's . It
has ( left to right , K-Menu , Kontact, Desktop Viewer & Switcher,
Recent Documents, Show Desktop , Konqueror Profiles )

The bottom panel has the clock to the left and the trash bin to the
right as well as the systray. This panel is permanent.

What do you guys think ? I am mainly interested in the positioning
and the items involved not so much into the color and themes itself. I
would heavily depend on input for any new icon sets / color schemes /
themes etc ... .

So let's get started :) .
