[Zappa-List] Holiday Greetings

2005-12-25 Thread jcoonk

To all the FZ fans everywhere!
Here's a little something I whipped out last night, in between the moisture
cream and velvet facial lotion, which I'd like to share...
Seasonal Blessings to All!

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the housenot a
creature was stirring, not me - or my spouse. The stockings were hung by the
chimney with care,in hopes that Carl, or a diploma, soon would be
there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of
watermelons danced in their heads. And Mama in her "na'kin", and I in my
cap,
were hoping to sleep off all the seasonal crap. When out on the roof
there arose such a clatter,I sprang from my bed to see what was the
matter.Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutter, and
fell flat on my ass.The moon on the titties of the new-fallen snowgave
the luster ofcheepnis to objects below, when, what to my wondering eyes
should appear, but a miniature band, and all kinds of gear. With a little
old conductor, so ugly and rank,I knew in a moment it must be St.
Frank.More rapid than eagles, his curses they came, and he whistled and
shouted and called them by name:"Now Ikie! Now Stevie! Now, Arthur and
Vinnie! On, Warren! On, Napi! On, George, Ruth, and Howie! To the top
of the arena! To the top of the Hall!We waited all night, but you didn't
try to call!"As vegetables that before the wild hurricane fly, when they
meet with an obstacle, mount to the skyso up to the house-top the cursers
they flew, with the band full of horns, and Uncle Frank too.And then, in
a twinkling, I heard on the topthe prancing and pawing of the Pachuco
Hop.As I drew in my head and was turning around, down the chimney Uncle
Frank came with a bound. He was dressed all in purple, from his head to his
foot, and his clothes were completed with a pair of python boots.A bundle
of tapes he had flung on his back, and he looked like a road manager just
opening his pack. His eyes--oh how piercing! His hair cut, how
bonkers! His cheeks were rosettas, his nose was a honker! His droll little
mouth was drawn up in a sneer, and the hair on his chin made just who he was
clear. The stump of a Winston he held tight in his teeth, and the smoke it
encircled his head like a wreath. He had a gaunt face and barely any
belly,And with those boots finally off, you knew it'd be smelly. He was
dark and severe, a curmudgeonly old elf,and I gave him the finger, in spite
of myself.A wink of his eye and a twist of his handsoon showed me how
deftly he directed his band.He spoke not a word, but went straight to his
work, and finished by mumbling, "Jesus thinks you're a jerk".And laying
his finger aside of his nose, and giving a nod, he struck his famed Collier's
pose. Then he sprang to his bus, that he'd named Phydeaux III,And away
they all flew singing "Absolutely Free".But I heard him exclaim, 'ere they
drove out of sight,"Thanks for coming to the concert, Boys and Girls - good
night!"

Re: [Zappa-List] Re: VO: Detroit 11-19-76 7-16-79 Flo and Eddie

2005-12-25 Thread Joseph Lonon
It's been a while since this has been touched on. I still don't remember
signing up for this, but even so, I have not received any Flo Eddie discs. If
this gets started again, I'll happily pass it along. I did get the YAWYI Mtv
video disc from Scott a couple days ago, but I understand he's had some family
issues. If anything comes of this, I'll let you all know.

thanks and happy holidays,
Joseph

Thanks for chiming in, Bart. But if you follow this subject's thread back, you
will see that it is this message that provided me the vinage that I posted,
which some folks think is the Fillmore 1970 + Harrisburg, PA 1974. rabbitt
read me the dates off of the disks and they said '76 '79.
I'm just trying to help out rabbitt, who is confused (and rightly so, probably
more so now).
So, one more time for the world, I'm quite sure that the remaining vinage
should be:

Scott Burnett - US Joseph-US [EMAIL PROTECTED] Guy-US [EMAIL
PROTECTED] (but Scott Burnett has been AWOL for a while).

Now, if the vine went out of order, or if some members removed themselves from
it, there were no messages under the above subject line to indicate so...
Warm Regards,
SOFA

I sent it to John (USA) then he passed to Nick (UK), Nick did or should
give it to White Rabbit...and now White Rabbit has it, as no one else
after him claimed for this one...
so the vine is almost an orphan...:-)
  Cheers
  Bart

[Zappa-List] VO: (2 NTSC DVD) Ohne Maulkorb FZ in Prague

2005-12-25 Thread Nokeating4

I have tried to contact Tom several times to send this one on and have received no response. Anyone else want it or should it go to the orphanage?

John

ready to send this one on - Tom, send me your address off list.

John

JohnK-USA TomF-USA ?

 - DVD 1 - March 30th, 1978 Ohne Maulkorb 34 55 min, NTSC, B+/B+ Vienna, Austria (interview + music)Interviews and tour report. Frank and the interviewer (RudiDolezal) have a disagreement about Cadillacs, which results in a smallmovie under FZ's direction - funny. Also a rare performance of BobbyBrown, with just FZ and Tommy Mars on the piano. The "Rudi's Cadillac Extravaganza" should be called "OhneMaulkorb", which is the name of this first great DoRo (Rudi Dolezal, Hannes Rossacher)film. I'm pretty sure there are no 55 min versions. FZis at his sneering, cynical "best". The comment "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a classic example of a jerk for an interviewer" is a classic.Actually "Ohne Maulkorb" (translated "Without Muzzle") is not afilm, but a youth orientated Austrian bi-weekly TV show, which wasaired IIRC from the end of the 60's to the second half of the 80's.Each episode lasted 45-60 minutes and comprised documentaries about socio-politicaland musical issues. DVD 2 - FZ in Prague 1.Zappa in Prague - TV program from airport and visit to gov. B+time 30:00 2.Prazsky Vyber - live concert C+ time 11:27 Lineage:No.1 mpg file from trade color correction by Canopus ProCoder,No.2 (3 gen) VHS tape from trade Thompson VPR6990ChromaPro Pioneer DVR 5100H Nero 7.0
