One is either a Jew or a Levite, but not both. While a Levite may be classed as a "Jew" per se by the world at large, he is still a Levite, as far as I know. But then again, what do I know? :) Geoff // /// ZION LIST CHARTER: Please read it at /// /// http://www.zionsbest.com/charter.html /// / ==^ This email was sent to: archive@jab.org EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?aaP9AU.bWix1n.YXJjaGl2 Or send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^

What is the patriarch suppose to do when a Jew joins the church and says, "I'm a Levite too". I'm confused. Gary Smith favored us with: Actually, there are many Levites that have established their genealogies without a patriarchal blessing. Jews today are still rather diligent in ensuring their descendancy. I don't believe this. To trace a genealogy requires documentary evidence: wills, land deeds, church records, vital records, etc. Needless to say, there is no such evidence that goes all the way back to the time of Christ, much less the days of Levi, son of Jacob. At best a Jew might have a family tradition about what tribe he is from, and family traditions are often wrong and need to be verified by the documentary evidence. John W. I think it will happen. I was told as a Protestant that studies were then underway about what to do and how to rebuild that temple and so forth. I have no reason to doubt this. Stacy. Actually, there are many Levites that have established their genealogies without a patriarchal blessing. Jews today are still rather diligent in ensuring their descendancy. Chet favored us with: There's an interesting scenario which strikes my mind as likely. I'm kinda wondering if the next time a righteous priesthood holder (or one of the literal lineage for the Aaronic priesthood) offers sacrifice in the Jerusalem temple, will an angel appear and say to phone the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for further instructions? A person cannot hold the priesthood without having it conferred upon him by one having authority to do so. Hence, the sons of Levi will only have the priesthood if they receive it from Salt Lake City, or the New Jerusalem, in the first place. He won't have to phone for further instructions. He will already have his instructions. Also, without a Patriarchal Blessing he would have no way of knowing that he was a literal descendent of Levi. John W.
