You will have to also install the U4 KU when it is released to use this feature, I believe. [zones-discuss] Zones and Dtrace
I saw that in Solaris 11/06 (update 3), limitpriv was implemented for configuration of zones. I've added the dtrace_proc and dtrace_user to a zone, but DTrace inside the zone doesn't support these features yet... However DTrace within a zone, seems to have been supported since at least the Solaris Express 05/06. Does anyone know if this will be implemented in Update 4 of Solaris? As an aside, is there a provisional list / What's new out for Update 4 available somewhere? Cheers! Re: [zones-discuss] Zones and Dtrace
Dtrace support is in S10 U4 (Solaris 10 8/07). Additional features include: o IP Instances: LAN and VLAN Separation for Non-Global Zones o Improved zonecfg Procedures for Creating Containers More integrated resource management and zones features now make it easier to leverage the resource management capabilities of the system through the zonecfg command o Branded Zones/lx (Linux) branded zone o System V Resource Controls for Zones o Zone Unique Identifier o Ability to Mark Zones as Incomplete o Solaris Zones Boot Enhancements - Penny This message posted from opensolaris.org ___ zones-discuss mailing list zones-discuss@opensolaris.org

Regarding new features in S10 U4: I neglected to include another new feature. The ability to use Live Upgrade on a system with zones installed is also a new feature for S10 U4. You can now use Solaris Live Upgrade, the standard Solaris interactive installation program, or the custom JumpStart installation program to upgrade your Solaris system with zones installed. - Penny This message posted from opensolaris.org ___ zones-discuss mailing list zones-discuss@opensolaris.org

I don't want to turn this thread into a long discussion about the details of the new features in 8/07, but one of them might concern people, and I wanted to head off any misconceptions. It does not include the ability to trace the kernel from a zone. This is optional functionality, and must be enabled from the global zone by adding privs to the zone's configuration. -- -- Jeff VICTOR Sun Microsystemsjeff.victor @ sun.com OS AmbassadorSr. Technical Specialist Solaris 10 Zones FAQ:http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq -- ___ zones-discuss mailing list zones-discuss@opensolaris.org
