It would be a wonder if this message were not created from your site
yourself (no external tool would know about "Web.vi" and "Zope").

This means that your site is accessible -- just does unexpected things.

The "Z2.log" file might give you glues towards the actual requests
that produce the response above.

[Zope] CMF 1.6.2 released

2006-08-14 Thread Jens Vagelpohl

The CMF developer community is pleased to announce the release of
version 1.6.2 of the Zope Content Management Framework (CMF).
This release marks the latest stable release in the
CMF 1.6 series and should be suitable for production use.

What is the CMF?

The Zope Content Management Framework provides a set of services and
content objects useful for building highly dynamic, content-oriented
portal sites. As packaged, the CMF generates a site much like the
zope.org site. The CMF is intended to be easily customizable, in
terms

of both the types of content used and the policies and services it
  provides.

What's new in this release?

The 1.6.2 release represents a pure bug fix/maintenance release
  without feature additions.

Where do I get it?

  Download it from http://www.zope.org/Products/CMF/CMF-1.6.2

  Points of interest include:

  - Windows ZIP file:
http://www.zope.org/Products/CMF/CMF-1.6.2/CMF-1.6.2.zip

  - Unix tar/gzip archive:
http://www.zope.org/Products/CMF/CMF-1.6.2/CMF-1.6.2.tar.gz

  - Release notes:

  - Change history:

  - Installation instructions:
http://www.zope.org/Products/CMF/CMF-1.6.2/INSTALL.txt

  - CMF Release Roadmap:
http://www.zope.org/Products/CMF/docs/roadmap

Where do I go to learn more?

The CMF mailing list ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) has many participants who
are

  active in supporting the CMF.

...to report bugs?

The CMF Collector at http://www.zope.org/Collectors/CMF is the
place to

report bugs (please search for existing reports of your issue first!)

[Zope] multiple rewrite rules in apache

2006-08-14 Thread David Bear
I have apache serving multiple ip based virtual hosts. When I went
into one of the virtual hosts to put the rewrite rule, they failed. I
used the zope witch at betabug to generate them. However, I am
wondering if the rewrite rules need to appear elsewhere in the apache
config file. I recall reading somewhere that the order of the rewrite
rules is important.

Does anyone know of any documentation on debuging apache rewrite
rules?

How do URLs "detail the problem at hand"? It is perfectly normal to

create requests. Site admins can always put in bad links or bad

She does have a firewall. However, she is not the only client nor the

difficulty. I have asked my clients for OS/IE information but they
haven't provided it.

I thought I had mentioned (and if not, I apologize) that the message
comes back "Welcome to Web.vi \n Zope" or some such. web.vi is my domain
and is the name of the server (localhost.web.vi). However, web.vi serves
just fine.

  * the access takes very long (several minutes) (this may indicate
 a DNS problem)

Nobody has indicated as much. I even increased the time to enable
contact between my reverse-proxy (Pound) and Zope and that had no effect.

  * after several minutes (DNS timeout), the browser reports
"the page cannot be shown" (this may indicate a DNS problem).

Again, something *does* print to screen, and I'm guessing this is some
default file in Zope. It appears the reverse proxy is working, else a
Zope message wouldn't appear on the screen, I believe, and it does.

Note also, that DNS problems may happen non deterministically.

Could you clarify what you mean by that term?
Thank you so much!

I am trying to install ZODB 3.4. The OS is Scientific Linux 4.2 on i386

I request for help on this.
Thanks a lot for any help or hints.

My English must be weak -- I cannot understand "pull down" in this
context...

I expect that you mean "cannot access her Web site".

In this case, you need to be more specific what happens precisely:

Then, this means that the value from the database is not unicode.

Convert it to unicode by "value.decode(the_database_encoding)".

Double check that you aren't logged in as the "emergency user" (the one
defined in the '$INSTANCE_HOME/access' file). That user cannot create
most kinds of content, due to Zope's ownership / security model.

If this is your problem, create a "normal" manager user (e.g.,
'bin/zopectl adduser admin/password') and log in as that user to create
content.

[Zope] Site Disappears!

2006-08-14 Thread zope

Hi;
I have a strange (to me) problem where a client of mine reports she
can't pull down her Web site and has had at least one client call from
outside her area to complain the same thing. I can see her site fine
(I'm on a different island) and have friends in CA that can pull down
the site as well. I haven't been able to get the OS/IE version
information I'd like, but I don't think this is a browser problem since
(a) she could see the site fine before, and (b) she gets a Zope welcome
page, indicating she's at least hitting my box.

I find no errors in either the Zope error log nor /var/log/errors.

My configuration is BSD 5.3, Pound as reverse proxy and then passing to
Zope with mapping in VHM.

Thanks for any help you can offer here;

[Zope] UnicodeDecodeError

2006-08-14 Thread Luiz Fernando Bernardes Ribeiro
Hi all,Due to project demands I had to convert the html entities in all TEXT fields in my database to the real international characters like "á", "ç" and so on. The problem is that all my dynamic generated XML started to fail with UnicodeDecodeError. The XML encoding is set to utf-8 and the file itself is correctly encoded.
If I inject the international characters using a Python Script with something like u'çáé' it works, but passing the TEXT field from the database generates the error.I'm using Zope 2.9.2 and MySQL. The XML is generated using ZPT.
The XML, invokes a script to filter and add links to the text retrieved from the database, ex:... xml stuff ...
... xml stuff ...obra is the database row and Conteudo is the TEXT field.montarCDATA is as simple as (I removed the code to build the links):return '' % textoif instead of the TEXT field I put something like:
return '' % u'çáéà'it works, which leads me to believe the problem is with the database field and XML. The strange thing is that with common html everything works as expected.Traceback (innermost last):
