Sorry to bug this list with a dw question. However, I was using DAV

Does anyone else use dreamweaver to edit zope/plone files? If so, how
do you make dreamweaver edit this types of files? I know _html, .pt,
.zpt etc are well formed xhtml -- but I don't know how to tell stupid
dw to edit them since it uses the extension to recognize file type.

You may want to check out the ExternalEditor

http://zopewiki.org/ExternalEditor

I am not sure if Dreamweaver is recommended for it. But do check it out.

RE: [Zope] Problem with running same script at a time

Hi Dieter!

Than you for your answer!
I use the same product.
This problem is one of the others... The behaviour is the same when i
use long socket communication (as a tcp client), etc. In these cases the
folder wich contains the scripts be unaccessible.
Maybe have i a wrong zope configuration (i use default config)?

same time to run this script again the process will start after the
other one ends. Other folder are accessible. What do i wrong?

This is surprising...

You might be using an unfortunate Postgres adapter library.

We are using psycopg and do not observe this problem.

My system is a developer server so i'm the only one who use the zope.
When i run the script there is not other worker script.
I'm newbie but i read that there is a tool named zasync that maybe
solves my problem but i cannot install it yet. I would like solve my
problem without this if possible.

[Zope] Zope 2.10b2 build issue

2006-09-21 Thread Pascal Peregrina
Hi,

Just to let you know that if you use a temporary build directory to build
Zope 2.10, the setup.py script fails.

I know, I am using python 2.5 (making some tests) but this issue is
unrelated.

Below, build is an empty directory and src is the untared Zope source.

STEP 1

cd build/Zope-2.10.0-b2
/opt/pperegri/F2BUILDS/F2.15/src/Zope-2.10.0-b2/configure
--prefix=/opt/pperegri/F2BUILDS/F2.15/opt/Zope-2.10.0-b2  --optimize
--with-python=/opt/pperegri/F2BUILDS/F2.15/opt/Python-2.5/bin/python

CAUSE:

The problem comes from this code in setup.py (which did not exist in Zope

sys.path.insert(0, 'inst')
import versions
del sys.path[0]

ZOPE_VERSION = '%s%s-%s' % (versions.ZOPE_MAJOR_VERSION,
versions.ZOPE_MINOR_VERSION, versions.VERSION_RELEASE_TAG)

If I change it to:

try:
MAKEFILEDIR = os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(__file__))
except:
MAKEFILEDIR = os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(sys.argv[0]))
sys.path.insert(0, '%s/inst'%MAKEFILEDIR)
import versions
del sys.path[0]

ZOPE_VERSION = '%s%s-%s' % (versions.ZOPE_MAJOR_VERSION,
versions.ZOPE_MINOR_VERSION, versions.VERSION_RELEASE_TAG)

Everything works fine.

Thanks for reading up to this point :)

Check if you have inst/versions.py. If not then you're archive is broken
or you have a problem with extracting the archive. Ensure you're using
a *very* recent version of GNU TAR.

Re: [Zope] Zope 2.10b2 build issue

2006-09-21 Thread Pascal Peregrina
Again, if you read my hack in my initial mail, you'll see that the issue is
with the python path (I run make in a temporary build directory and the
untared Zope source is elsewhere)... So no, my source file is NOT
corrupted...

Let me explain again. In setup.py there is this (nasty) code:
sys.path.insert(0, 'inst')
import versions
del sys.path[0]

In my case, this fails because the inst directory is not a subdirectory of
my temporary build directory.

So if I fix the path to inst with this in setup.py (I copy/pasted this
code from one of my own python scripts):

try:
MAKEFILEDIR = os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(__file__))
except:
MAKEFILEDIR = os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(sys.argv[0]))
sys.path.insert(0, '%s/inst'%MAKEFILEDIR)
import versions
del sys.path[0]

...it works fine.

Does it make sense now?

This (nasty) code in setup.py does not exist in Zope 2.8.4

I fixed out-of-tree builds recently (I can reproduce your error on a

http://svn.zope.org/Zope/branches/2.10/setup.py?rev=69979r1=69113r2=69979

It looks as though I forgot to port that fix to the trunk, however.

Of course you could just name them all with extensions from within zope...

Is your nameserver configured to allow access to journal.homelinux.net?
(look at /etc/named.conf and the associated db entry in /etc/named)

Can you get to a simple directory on your server? (ie. change the rewrite
rule so that it points at a directory on your server - create a simple
index.html file in the associated htdocs subdirectory)

  Is your nameserver configured to allow access to

  Can you get to a simple directory on your server?
 (ie. change the rewrite

Forgive me if I'm being dense, but doesn't 'deny from all' imply that no
proxy requests will be allowed? Don't you then need to uncomment the
'Allow' statement and put your server name there, so that proxy requests
from your own server will be allowed?

Do you have apache running on one box and zope running on another box (ie.
and using mod_proxy to forward proxy requests from the front-end box to the
target server (zope) box?

If you have apache and zope running on the same box i don't think you need
mod_proxy.

Disabling all proxy options worked for me too. I'm not
sure if this will disable also all proxy restrictions.

But I think I can live with this configuration for a
while. Thanks.

According to the apache docs the default for proxy passing is 'off' (ie.
proxying is not enabled), so if your config file does not explicitly turn
proxying 'on' you should be ok!

RE: [Zope] Problem with running same script at a time

I use the same product.
This problem is one of the others...

I had to fix a problem in psycopg:

   During connect, Python's Global Interpreter Lock (GIL)
   was not released (freezing Zope during connect).

   Usually, this is not a problem as connect is quite a fast
   operation.

   We noticed it only when the server for the postgres installation
   was down (then connect became a several minute operation
   until the TCP timeout happened).

However, it is unlikely, that this is your problem.

The behaviour is the same when i
use long socket communication (as a tcp client), etc.

This, too, should not happen -- and I never observed it (but a colleague
reported something like this but never showed it to me -- and I did
not believe him; or more precisly, I tested his alledgedly observed
behaviour and could not reproduce it...)

In these cases the
folder wich contains the scripts be unaccessible.

Unbelievable -- unless your folder access triggers
the long socket communication. In this case, it would
not be the old socket communication that blocks but the new one.

Of course, your folder access should not trigger anything else...
