[Zope] Authentication after proxy

2008-04-06 Thread Maslak, Michael
I have put the Zope server behind a reverse proxy using ssl. I think I
have some of the Apache certificate problems solved. Zope asks me to
authenticate once after accepting the ssl cert. But then it asks me to
authenticate again and there are more certs to be accepted. I'm sure
this is a common enough situation: Zope behind Apache rewrite rules on
the target server that all lives behind a proxy server, all using ssl.

Can someone please point me in the correct direction?

Thanks,

Michael Maslak, Jr.

[Zope] (no subject)

2005-04-19 Thread Maslak, Michael

Hi All,

How do I install multiple instances of Zope that are valid
Windows Services in W2K3 w/ SP1 installed? i.e. start like an automatic service
on startup?

Only the initial instance that gets created during the
installation process gets associated with a Hardware Profile,
"Profile1" here.  (cmd: services.msc -> Zope Instance at
D:\Core-Instance -> Log On tab -> Profile1 is listed in the
properties.

If I try to run the Zope installer again to create another
Windows service instance, it does not get associated with a Hardware Profile
like the first.  (e.g. services.msc -> Zope Instance at
D:\Next-Instance -> brings up a complaint dialog:

"Configuration Manager: The specified Device ID is not
a valid Device ID.  Indeed, the properties box has NO entry for a Hardware
Profile of any kind.

And all other services created with the Create Zope Instance
tool require manual start.

Thank you.

Michael Maslak

[Zope] Versioning seems to LockOut the site.

2005-12-06 Thread Maslak, Michael

Attempting to use the Version to stop from stepping on each
others' code results in a LockOut error that seems to propagate to any object
the code in the version touches.  For example, if the versioned object
uses , then standard_html_header gets
locked and the site becomes inaccessible.

What am I doing wrong?

I once started down that path with FTP. I use HomeSite, as well, to
save via FTP. I investigated a Linux package called Delegate, that
would provide a rev-proxy for FTP over SSL, in which normal FTP clients
with SSL could transfer files. www.delegate.org

I didn't continue, priorities and all.

Maybe a WebDAV client over SSL would be easier, depends on your needs.

[Zope] Atomic ZSQL on Zope 2.7.5

2006-04-25 Thread Maslak, Michael

For some reason I thought ZSQL method calls were atomic, but
they appear otherwise.

Using an eGenix mxODBC Database Connection at /Database/PoPy_database_connection
to a SQL Server 2000 back end, I have created a Python script to write SQL
commands and feed them in one large string:

UPDATE equip SET workstation=1 WHERE eq_id=39315;

UPDATE node SET node='M28057' WHERE node_id=13451;

UPDATE materiel SET mat_nm='mm-M28057-H-01', owner='mmaslak',
datetime='2006/04/24 15:09:07.611 GMT-5' WHERE mat_id=39315;

This all gets sent as one string to a ZSQL method where the first
two commands execute, but the third fails because it doesn't like the datetime string,
which indeed fails when I try it alone in the PoPy connection.  Why, oh
why doesn't the whole thing fail like I might expect?

When I wrap the call in a 'begin transaction … commit',
it becomes atomic. Nothing happens if part of it fails. Great.

But failure is not detectable by the Python script. I have used
try/except and if/else blocks to ascertain failure. It thinks a non-commit is
AOK, not an exception.  Is this function of the eGenix ODBC? Of MS SQL
Server 2K? Zope/ZSQL/Python?

How can I detect failure and maintain atomicity?
