[Zope] Zope based ERP5 on O'Reilly Book
The Zope based ERP project ERP5 has on chapter on the O'Reilly book Beautiful Code: Leading Programmers Explain How They Think http://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Code-Leading-Programmers-Explain/dp/0596510047 The book features well known authors such as Brian Kernighan, Jon Bentley, Charles Petzold, Douglas Crockford, Andrew Kuchling, and Yukihiro Matsumoto, among many others. Also, it has some not-known authors, like me. On this chapter we explain the basic ERP5 architecture and how Nexedi SARL (France) has managed to create a highly flexible framework for Enterprise Information Systems on top of Zope. If someone is interested in this particular chapter, please send an email to me. Bye for now, -- Prof. Rogério Atem de Carvalho, D.Sc. [Zope] Re: General Full Text Search Questions
Sorry, I mixed Portuguese and English. Where you read "Zcatalogue" in my previous posting, please read "Zcatalog". Sorry one more time. [Zope] General Full Text Search Questions
Hi, I have some general Full text search questions, hope someone can help me: 1)How can I use ZCatalogue to do full text search on static html pages? In Zcatalogue examples I could find search for properties like Title, I would like to have the whole text content of a static html searched. 2)Providing that the previous question was answered, how can I do the same for HTML pages referenced by LocalFS? 3)Can I combine LocalFS and Yihaw??? How? 4)How can I use Zope to generate static html pages stored outside Zope? Any help will be very apreciated! [Zope] Static X Dynamic
Hi, I have a site with 1,000 static HTML pages containing images and text (in portuguese and english). I need: 1) Enable full text search 2) Create a mechanism to automatically generate more pages and put everything together in Zope. 3)Work under Zope versions 2.1.6 and 2.2 I know some alternatives but I would like to have some advice about them: 1) Migrate everything to a DB like MySQL, using ZSQL methods to do search, insert etc... (I'm doing it now and it works, but don't know if it 's the best solution...) 2)Use Metapublisher and Zcatalog- In this case how can I represent one to many relationships (one document to many images)??? 3)Use Metapublisher and a RDBMS- same question above. Or: 4)Use ZCatalog alone - In this case, how can I do full text search? 5)Use BTreeFolder - same question above. 6)Use LocalFS - same question above. 7)Put everything under Yihaw! structure (it would be a nice solution in terms of interface...)- same question above. Is there another soluction not listed above, or a mix of solutions? What is the best solution in terms of speed and maintenance? [Zope] LocalFS and Image Files
Hi, I am using LocalFS to refer to image files (.jpg). I tried localfsObj['imagefile.jpg'] but it doesn't render the image. The same occurs inside Zope management interface, i.e., if I try "view", it shows me a broken link. I am testing it on 2.1.6 Win32, but it will go online in 2.1.7 Linux. Any hint? regards, Rogerio Atem --- E-mail enviado pelo servidor do CEFETCampos ___ Zope maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
[Zope] Products and 2.2 Final
Just a simple question: I am using 2.1.6 with LocalFS, CachePool, SQL Input Wizard, MetaPublisher and others... I am thinking now in upgrading to 2.2 final. Is there any product that is not compatible with 2.2 final? regards, Rogerio Atem --- E-mail enviado pelo servidor do CEFETCampos ___ Zope maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
[Zope] CachePool + LocalFS
Hi, I am still looking for a simple caching soluction for external files... Can I use CachePool to cache LocalFS referenced objects? If I can, how can I do that? [Zope] File referencing and LocalFS
I am using LocalFS to refer to a directory structure like this: folder1 | folder11 There are image (.jpg) files in both folders. I have two questions about this: 1)Folders names are directly related to string fields in a MySQL database which use spaces between words (eg New York), but folders names don't use spaces (eg NewYork). How can I skip spaces from database fields to make them refer to these folders (eg New York --> NewYork)? 2)Using LocalFS, can I do something like '].[''], where par1 and par11 are folder names (after skiping spaces)? [Zope] Namespace question
Hi, I working on an structure like this: folder1 | folder11 | folder111 I have some objects in folder111 which I want to pass as parameters to a dtml method in folder1 (two levels above). I tried something like: where par1 and par2 are strings and par3 is an object in folder111. mtdCreate is in folder1. it doesn't work... How can I do that --- E-mail enviado pelo servidor do CEFETCampos ___ Zope maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

[Zope] LocalFS and Cache Issues
I am using a combination of Zope to create and maintain a MySQL database. This database is full of images files so I decided to keep them outside MySQL for caching facilities. My question are: 1)image files referenced by LocalFS objects are cached by Zope? and 2)In this situation do I need to use Apache or only Zope+MySQL? regards, Rogerio Atem --- E-mail enviado pelo servidor do CEFETCampos ___ Zope maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
[Zope] Cache X MySQL
Dear coleagues, I decided to use Zope as an Interface to maintain and search a touristic information database. All text is stored in MySQL tables and images will be stored outside the database, for cache reasons (I will keep only the path as TEXT columns in MySQL tables). My question is: for me to have an efficient cache system, Am I supposed to store the images as Zope Image Objects or can I store them outside Zope, in normal (Linux) folders? If I store them poutside Zope, is Zope able to cache them??? regrads, Rogerio Atem --- E-mail enviado pelo servidor do CEFETCampos ___ Zope maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
Re: [Zope] More reliable Database Adapter for linux

The problem in using ZODB is to do simple queries and link different class object instances in queries (SQL join). It is hard to do simple things in ZODB like aggregate functions (sum, max ...) That's why I use an external RDBMS... regards, Rogerio Atem. --- E-mail enviado pelo servidor do CEFETCampos ___ Zope maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
[Zope] Selection
Hi, I am using sql to fill a selection, following a How-To. When I try to pass the selection plus some text parameters to a sql method, Zope gives me an error. Aparently, the selectioned value is not being passed as a value to the sql. How can I pass the selectioned value as a parameter? [Zope] MySQL questions
Hi, I am a Zope Newbie and would like to ask some questions regarding to Zope + MySQL: 1)How can I upload file content to TEXT (plain text) and BLOB (images: jpg, gif) using DTML? 2)How can I create interface fields with multiple lines to edit (insert and update) MySQL text columns? 3)Is there any way of doing full text search in MySQL TEXT fields? I know there is a Perl module capable of doing complex searches, but I would like to use (if exists...)some Zope facility.
