[Zope-dev] server accept() threw an exception in log
I had many of these in the instance log; googling around, I found this: https://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2002-September/122392.html But it seems the patch attached to a post in that thread never made it to the repo. It's now almost ten years later, so this sort of incident must be pretty rare. The question remains, should the patched be applied? \malthe ___ Zope-Dev maillist - Zope-Dev@zope.org https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope )

I am a bit out of the loop whats possible with buildbot, but I've seen a solution for this issue in the jenkins builders for Plone. They have a build that just checks out code. The actual tests are then run as a dependant build, but only if the checkout of step one worked. The builds are independent, so the code actually gets checked out twice. But the nice effect is, that we wouldn't get false errors because of network issues. Any of our buildbot admins sees this as feasable and might share his configuration of how to do it? It's now almost ten years later, so this sort of incident must be pretty rare. The question remains, should the patched be applied? I don't think so. Dieter's patch was for an ancient, oddball Solaris case where the 'accept()' failure was permanent, and so he wanted to raise the exception to kill the Zope process. The original code is from medusa, with the explcit comment:: # linux: on rare occasions we get a bogus socket back from # accept. socketmodule.c:makesockaddr complains that the # address family is unknown. We don't want the whole server # to shut down because of this.
