[Zope3-dev] Zope 3.3.1 configure script needs updating

2007-02-15 Thread Craeg Strong

Hello:

As Python 2.4.4 is now recommended for Zope 3.3.1, the configure script
should be updated, it still says 2.4.3

   # Place the optimal target version number (as returned by sys.version)
   # below
   TARGET="2.4.3"

thx

[Zope3-dev] Zope 3.3.1 released

2007-02-14 Thread Philipp von Weitershausen
On behalf of the Zope Foundation I'm happy to announce the release of
Zope 3.3.1, a bugfix release for the current stable 3.3.x line. Zope
3.3.1 contains a number of bugfixes, though most importantly it fixes
compatibility with Python 2.4.4.

You can find more information as well as a tarball for Unix and a
Windows installer at http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope3/3.3.1.

[Zope3-dev] Zope 3.3.1

2007-02-12 Thread Philipp von Weitershausen
I'd like to release Zope 3.3.1 soon. The tests are passing on Linux and
Mac OS, apparently there's only a problem with zope.app.twisted on
Windows, afaik. Can we get this problem isolated, analyzed and fixed
asap, please?

We can't delay this maintenance release any further. It's bad enough
that a *release (!) branch* has been broken for such a long time w/o
having been fixed.

If this isn't fixed soon, I'm going to advise to the maintainer of the
3.3.x line to back out the change that led to the test failure so that
we can assure all of the Zope 3.3 users out there that we're indeed
fixing bugs and releasing the fixes. Zope 3.3.1 has tons of other
bugfixes that people out there are waiting for.

I hope we won't have to resort to reverting the zope.app.twisted change.

P.S.: What will it take to get the buildbot, especially the Windows one,
working again?

[Zope3-dev] Zope 3.3.1

2007-01-10 Thread Christian Theune
Hi,

after the initial Zope 3.3 release, we fixed quite a few bugs. I think
it's time for a 3.3.1 release now, which would also help the upcoming
Zope 2.10.2 release.

If anybody has time to do the 3.3.1 release, that would be very welcome!

I wouldn't mind to do that, if you want to get some load off. It could
let me exercise a bit for the next major release that I've taken over

people to have more people know about the release management process ...)

Since I'm unfortunately not able to be there tomorrow at the bugday, I'd

I will definitely help with some release at *some* point in the future,
though. :)

Thanks!

Btw: I didn't want to sound rude here to anybody who was fixing bugs in
the last time. I just wanted to express that I didn't see a coordinated
effort towards that release. :)

Ah. Thanks for bringing that up. I thought about that already but forgot
about that. I already thought the test times are too short. I'll move
them up as suggested.

Ok. Something to do for Zope 3.5!

Current focus: Bug fixing Zope 3.3

Currently, we're aiming for a Zope 3.3 bugfix release (3.3.1) in
November, which is managed by Martijn. Everybody is very encouraged to
take a look at the collector and fix bugs instead of introducing new
functionality. Please provide fixes and tests on the trunk and the 3.3
branch.

Next milestone: Zope 3.4

Due to the late release date for Zope 3.3 and the amount of open bugs,
Zope 3.4 will be postponed one release cycle and will be released in May
2007.

Yup

I think we should move the alpha and beta schedules up. IMO, we should
schedule the first beta and thus the feature freeze for early April.

The largest project that I know of that aims for Zope 3.4 will be the
eggification of Zope 3.

Yup. I fear that we if decide to support Python 2.5, that will be a
bigger project.

I haven't seen a formal proposal for this yet,

Good point.

but AFAIK this is Jim's pet.

Of course you can provide them for 3.2 as well. I'm not sure whether
it's officially maintained anymore now ... My understanding was that we
support: Current stable branch (3.3) + trunk

Only during release time, we support three branches, e.g. yesterday it
was: Stable (3.2) + In-Release (3.3) + trunk
