the 'centricity' of the plug - i.e., if the plug is off-center, the tonearm
will waver accordingly. Otherwise, the tonearm should always relate equally
to the center of the record, right? There should really be no variance

Holy Ghost, now that's a name I've not heard awhile.
Their track 'Friday Night At The Crying Cactus' is pretty insane (in a nice
way :-), and the only live techno performance I own on vinyl.
