What portable do you guys use for recording sets / field recordings. My
latest MD player is dying.

I am well aware that Mills was not the first guy to incorparte the 909 or any
other hardware into his sets, but rather that he was the guy that encouraged
Richie to do so, as well. I am assuming his concern was because they are
friends.

Zoom H4 should do the job.
A nice thing with recording live/dj-sets is having a 4-channel recorder
and use 2 ch for line and 2 ch for a condensor stereo mic to catch the
aduience and room reflections.
For that i would use either some portable 4 ch porta like Edirol R4 or a
laptop with a 4-ch
