Tonight I'm hosting the last segment of a 2-part radio series on Dan Curtin called "Planetary Sounds from Cleveland - The Music of Dan Curtin". It's tonight, May 11, 10P-2A PDST (GMT minus 7 hours, London time minus 8 hours - use San Francisco time to compute time difference form your city) on KFJC-FM, 89.7 MHz, in Los Altos Hills, CA (San Francisco Bay Area). Those out of the area can listen in via webcast, linked at http://kfjc.org , and download/stream an archive for up to 2 weeks after show time, linked at the same site (both live stream and archives are linked right at the top of the web page). Dan was gracious enough to grant me an interview, and I'll be playing some segments from that interspersed with gems from a 20-year career in techno. The first half of the special will concentrate on music from 1992 to 2000.

Last week was early sounds from Curtin, concentrating fairly heavily on his early 90's Metamorphic and Peacefrog releases. Tonight's show will veer around a bit, dealing with a slew of 12's on various labels he recorded in 2000-2008, some later Metamorphic releases, and recent output, including one EP just a few weeks old. Tonight's show also features a recent Curtin DJ mix, one of the most seamlessly integrated sets I've heard in a while.

P.S. Some folks on the IDM list were riffing on the station call letters last week - Nick Cave called it "kill for Jesus Christ" when he recorded a legal ID for the station during a visit years and years ago...
